Prom Announcement
We wanted to take a moment to update you on an important change to Prom this year, which will be held on April 26th at 8pm. After careful consideration and feedback from students, we have decided to discontinue Grand March. This decision is based on several factors:
1) Student Feedback – Each year, we gather input from students on whether Grand March should continue. This year, students voted to test out having Prom without Grand March. Their concerns included:
- Grand March is too long and takes away from time spent enjoying the evening.
- The event gives the impression that having a date is necessary to attend Prom, which can discourage students who prefer to go with a group of friends. Eliminating Grand March fosters a more welcoming environment.
- Removing Grand March allows students more time for getting ready, taking pictures, and enjoying dinner before the dance.
2) Safety and Supervision – From a staff perspective, removing Grand March helps us maintain a safer environment. Without hundreds of guests coming in and out of the building, we can more effectively monitor and ensure the safety of our students throughout the evening.
Additionally, we want to inform you about an update regarding the crowning of Prom King and Queen. With the removal of Grand March, this will now take place during the dance. Parents of students on the Prom Court will be invited to attend the crowning. More details for those families will be provided as the event approaches in addition to information about ticket sales for students.
We understand that this is a significant change, but we believe it will ultimately enhance the Prom experience for our students while ensuring a safe and enjoyable evening. We appreciate your understanding and support as we make this adjustment!
