Here We Come a Caroling...
In the Undercroft and On the Road:
Sunday, December 15th
Save the date on your busy holiday calendars for one of St David’s favorite forums “Coffee and Carols”, followed by one of our favorite outings of the year, “Christmas Caroling” for our homebound friends. After the 9:30 service, on December 15th, all parishioners can head downstairs to the undercroft where the coffee hour for the day will be enjoying delicious treats along with some old-fashioned Christmas Caroling. Roger will be at the piano and lead us all in holiday song. We will even face time those parishioners we cannot visit in person with a carol from the undercroft.
Those who have planned to go caroling to the homebound will then head out en masse, about 11:30 am, to our first stop, Hope Springs at Minnetonka, an assisted living facility where we volunteer. Here we will sing as one large group and play Santa--dropping off our Christmas gifts for all the residents.
From there, we will then divide and conquer, with each group visiting 2 or 3 of our parishioners who also find themselves homebound this holiday season. To get a handle on the traveling carolers’ numbers, we ask you to please sign up on the signup sheet in the church Narthex/Undercroft or sign up below electronically. If you find you suddenly can go caroling that day and you did not sign up, no worries… as there is always room for everyone to participate!
Click here for the sign-up page.
Remember………No professional singing talent required, all ages welcomed, and families strongly encouraged to attend! Folk’s love seeing children at Christmas. We hope you can join in, sing some classic Christmas carols, and partake in the real joy of the season.

La Posada
Advent has begun, which means it is time for the St. David’s Posada. In Spanish-speaking regions, “la posada” refers to an inn or a hotel. In many Hispanic traditions, “las posadas” is a term for a type of re-enactment of Mary & Joseph's search for lodging in Bethlehem and is performed just before Christmas. St. David’s honors the Posada tradition during Advent by inviting households to sign up to host a set of felted wool figures of Mary & Joseph for a few nights and then send them on to another St. David’s household. Those who participate as innkeepers have the opportunity to provide our “guests” with warm hospitality and safe lodging as they travel from home to home during Advent.
Each household interested in being an innkeeper must sign up (see below). A schedule of overnights for Mary & Joseph is made and provided to the innkeepers who have signed up. Our Mary & Joseph will make their first overnight at a St. David’s home on the first Sunday of Advent (Dec. 1). Then they travel to different homes in the St. David’s community, according to the schedule, and stay for about 2 nights. Each innkeeper is responsible for contacting the next host on the schedule, arranging to drop-off of Mary & Joseph at a time and place that is mutually convenient, and providing a small holiday treat for the receiving innkeepers to enjoy. On Tuesday, Dec. 24, the last innkeeper on the schedule brings Mary & Joseph to St. David’s for the Christmas Eve Service, marking the end of their long journey.
If you are interested in hosting Mary & Joseph during Advent, contact Patti Jurkovich at patti.jurkovich@gmail.com to sign up.

A Christmas Surprise
Hi everyone. My name is Gavin Ferro. Last year I decided to follow a tradition from my old church in California: giving out Christmas ornaments for everyone to take home on Christmas Eve. But instead of buying ornaments, I wanted something customized and special. So I designed and printed the ornaments on a 3D printer. I want to leave the design for this a surprise until Christmas, so here's a hint: This year's design is going to include something that’s really popular around Christmas time and in the church, and will also highlight the amazing Saint David’s logo. Make sure you look out for it on Christmas Eve, and have a very merry Christmas!

Hats and Mittens
Hats and Mittens is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization, dedicated to providing free hats, mittens and scarves to children in need during the cold winter months. Hats and Mittens work to keep every child warm as they play, learn and grow in the seven county metro area.
Winter has finally arrived and we are in the throes of freezing temperatures. YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!
Right now, Hats and Mittens is in very short supply of hats/caps and scarves for children, starting at infant/toddler ages through young adult. Hats and Mittens welcomes both new and gently used (clean, please) items. Please check your closets, bins, drawers. Do you have any hats , scarves or mittens you and/or your family no longer uses. They will be happily accepted and passed on to needy children.
Are you a knitter? If you are and need yarn, Hats and Mittens has had many donations of yarn. Please consider checking out the yarn at the Hats and Mittens warehouse in Hopkins and pick up some skeins. Please call/text Sue List at 952-412-2870. She will meet you some Friday morning at the warehouse to choose some yarn you like.
Thank you in advance for considering this urgent request for hats and scarves for children, infants through young adults. Every item you donate will be most appreciated by a child who has none.
Drop off your items in the Hats and Mittens collection boxes at the two south church doors. Thank you for helping keep our young metro community warm this winter.

Comprehensive Campus Initiative (CCI)
12/10/2024
The Comprehensive Campus Initiative (CCI) met on Tuesday, December 10, to discuss the future of St. David’s real estate and explore opportunities for using the property more effectively. Paul S. shared that the neighborhood is primarily residential, making it difficult to sell goods, and noted that ECMN, which technically owns all St. David’s real estate, has restrictions on using the property for for-profit ventures. However, the property can be rented to non-profits for a minimal charge. Huldah reported on potential stakeholders with whom St. David’s already works that could benefit from use of the campus. Katherine shared insights from a meeting with Allison Ferro and ICA, who have no plans to vacate the building, though there could be room for a second tenant since the space is underused. Diane and Huldah also discussed the recent Interfaith Dinner at the Minnetonka Police Department, where the police expressed interest in building trust and communication with various cultural communities. The police also shared a need they see in the community is for more mental health support for youth. Doug, Katherine, Cliff, Carol, and Diane shared takeaways from a Trinity Wall Street Workshop on real estate, which emphasized the importance of gaining broad support (90% of the parish) before pursuing any major projects, conducting one-on-one relational meetings, and aligning the project with the church’s mission. The group also recommended interviewing current users of the buildings and consulting with experts, including tax professionals and consultants, and suggested that Trinity might offer funding support. Concerns were raised about the CCI’s focus, particularly regarding how St. David’s can be innovatively faithful in utilizing the buildings and grounds it already owns. Members of the CCI, including co-conveners Cliff Crockford and Katherine Lewis, as well as Craig Warren, Carol Johnson, Diane Curley, Doug Eichten, Maddie Harvala, Karin Lindquist, Huldah Niles, Paul Smejkal, and Kristina Stokes, welcome further input and ideas from the congregation.
