THIS Sunday, December 21st: Caroling in the Undercroft & On the Road!
We hope you'll join us for one of St David’s favorite forums “Coffee and Carols”, followed by one of our favorite outings of the year, “Christmas Caroling” for our homebound friends. After the 9:30 service, on December 21st, all parishioners can head downstairs to the undercroft where the coffee hour for the day will be enjoying delicious treats along with some old-fashioned Christmas Caroling. Roger will be at the piano and lead us all in holiday song. We will even face time those parishioners we cannot visit in person with a carol from the undercroft.
Those who have signed up to go caroling to the homebound will then head out en masse, about 11:30 am, to our first stop, Hope Springs at Minnetonka where we will carol and drop off Christmas Cards for all the residents.
From there, we will then divide into groups to visit 2 or 3 of our parishioners who also find themselves homebound this holiday season.
No professional singing talent required, all ages welcome!

Endowment Update
As 2025 comes to a close, I’m very happy to report on the status of St. David’s Cornerstone Endowment fund.
A celebration/learning event held in August was very well-attended. It was a great social opportunity to share information about the Endowment and what it means to our church.
As reported on October 12 in the “Word with the Wardens” update, the fund balance as of 9/30/25 was $583,162.96. As of 10/31, the balance included $3,100 in gifts and memorials and grew to $594,410.60 – a welcome increase!
And the biggest achievement of all – the Endowment’s first distribution of funds has resulted in the beautiful Sanctuary artwork that was unveiled last weekend. This was made possible by all of you who have donated to the Endowment – blessings to you!
For information on how to donate, please go to the St. David’s website, select the Give tab, and select Endowment Fund on the dropdown. You can also contact Shea Brendalen (sbrendalen@stdavidsparish.org) or me at (vmedmond@gmail.com).
Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s!
In gratitude,
Vida Edmond

Hats & Mittens
Hats & Mittens is a non-profit organization that collects hats and mittens for children (infant through teenage years). Its goal is to ensure that children in the seven county metro area have access to hats and mittens and be warm while they learn, reach and grow.
Through the winter months, St. David’s will be collecting warm hats, mittens/gloves and scarves in all sizes for infants through young adults. They can be new or gently used (but clean). There are Hats & Mittens boxes at the two south church entrances.
Currently, Hats & Mittens is very low on mittens/gloves for ages 15-young adults. In addition, we are low on waterproof mittens/gloves & hats for ages 9-14 years and for infants and toddlers. Providing warmth for area children and youth is a wonderful, caring Christmas gift which will be truly appreciated.
You can help spread the warmth.
| ISAIAH Light in the Storm Convention Report | | |
A group of people from St. David’s, St. George’s and Grace Episcopal Churches joined about 5000 participants at ISAIAH’s Light in the Storm Convention at the Minneapolis Convention Center last Saturday. The first take-away was the awesome diversity of the crowd – white, black, Muslim, Christian, urban, rural, and many special interest groups. More than 75 of Minnesota’s 87 counties were represented. The program moved at a fast pace with over 30 speakers. The message was upbeat and full of hope. Several speakers made comparisons with the Civil Rights Movement. A “People’s Agenda” was presented and ratified. Click Here to Open the Agenda.
The various groups split out into breakout sessions to discuss plans to make this vision become reality. Christian churches attended the “Palm Sunday Path” breakout. Here is a quick overview of the plan:
January: Month of Formation
- Caucus and Action Trainings
- Training to Build Rapid Response Congregational Teams
- Advance Leader Training
February: Month of Public Action
- February 3 – Caucuses
- February 18 – Ash Wednesday Affordability Day of Action at MN Capitol
- County Board Actions
March: Reclaiming Our Faith in the Public Square
- March 29 – Palm Sunday marches in Minnesota and at least 20 other states
| | |
July: National Prophetic Faith Action
- July 3 – Large gathering in Philadelphia
Other breakout groups had similar, but slightly different plans. Stay tuned for more information and sign up for training sessions in January.
In her sermon last Sunday, Rev. Katherine quoted one of the speakers at the convention saying, “A single candle can light 1,000 others without losing its flame” We each can be a “Light in the Storm” and invite others to join us to paint a brighter future for all.
