The Day of Pentecost - Migration Sunday

June 8th - One service at 9:30

O God, who embraced us with perfect love and made us your people when we were yet strangers to you: be present with all refugees, immigrants, and displaced people throughout the world; may they know the consolation of your presence, and the liberating power of your love. Then give us grace, we pray, to extend ever wider your embrace in a world of exclusion, until all your children are knit together as beloved family in the perfect love that is your very heart, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who was displaced among us, and who now lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

- Collect, the Rt. Rev. Craig Loya, Bishop of ECMN

On Sunday, June 8, we'll celebrate the Feast of Pentecost, that day when we remember and celebrate the power of the Holy Spirit, how it lit upon the people, how they spoke in a multitude of languages, and how the Spirit propelled the people to carry the Spirit out into the far reaches of the world.

"Migration" will be a unifying theme for our liturgy. We will align ourselves in love and solidarity with refugees, immigrants, and displaced people and will recognize that each of us has our own migration story to share. The Rev. Julie Luna, former rector at St. Nicholas/Casa Maria in Richfield https://www.saint-nicks.org/casamaria, will be our guest preacher. Julie is an artist who came to St. David's earlier this spring to work with an intergenerational group of parishioners to create Pentecost "kites" that display words of migration. We will add more words and prayers to the kites on the Day of Pentecost and the kites will be used in procession as a playful and beautiful way to depict the Holy Spirit in our midst.

We invite you to wear colors of the flame that day: red, orange, yellow...and even purple, blue, and pink!

We're also looking for readers that morning to read the Pentecost story (Acts 2:1-4) in different languages. We'll have translations available that morning, or feel free to bring your own translation. For more information, contact Minister of Parish Life Julia Moser-Hardy at office@stdavidsparish.org.

Godly Play will be offered for children during worship and we'll honor high school seniors on this day!

Finally, we'll celebrate how the Holy Spirit has called, gifted, and emboldened the leaders of St. David's in their various ministries. We'll thank our leaders within worship and at a special coffee hour following the service.

It will be a beautiful, spirit-filled day! Mark your calendars! Bring a friend! Let us give thanks for the gift of the Spirit!

This Sunday: Godly Play for ages 3-6

LAST WEEK TO SIGN UP FOR YOUTH CAMP!

ECMN programming registration is live for Youth Camp, and Family Camp

A Note of Gratitude

This past Friday was my first time hosting an overnight at St. David’s. (Not my first church overnight, of course). It went wonderfully. Fourteen 3-5th graders from four different parishes had fun and sang their hearts out during Compline, no one got hurt (minus a couple Band-Aids), and everyone ate wonderful food. Usually when we Children and Youth Ministers set out to host something like this, we take on most of the planning and prep ourselves. Not many adults want to sleep on the floor of a church or prep food for a room of squirrely kids, so I didn’t really ask for volunteers. I figured I could take care of it. The other Youth Ministers do when they host. But St. David’s stepped up. As I announced the 3-5th grade overnight each Sunday, folks offered words of support and offered to help! Two wonderful volunteers – Carol Johnson and Julia Handley, served dinner and root beer floats, and then were back in the kitchen at 7:00am on Saturday morning brewing coffee for the adults, and cutting fruit for the kids.

Same for when we have youth group, Charity Harvala shops for ingredients, organizes a kitchen crew, and joyfully cooks and serves dinner for us. And I remember last year, David and Joanne Allan surprised us all with a delicious homemade rainbow fruit tart for the youth group Pride Party. Countless others are constantly willing to jump in last minute whether it’s a Sunday morning or a Wednesday night; Bonnie, Mary, Judy, Jeff, Sara - These acts of love and service are not lost on me, and they’re not lost on the kids either. Thank you, St. David’s, for always showing up.

With love,

Anna Belz-Brock

Your Children and Youth Minister

Seeking Art for the Bulletins

We have been blessed by the artistic contributions of parishioners who have created stirring imagery for the cover of our Sunday bulletins. We want this artistic ministry to continue! If you are interested in creating art for the Sunday bulletin, especially for special Sundays and high holy days, please contact Julia at office@stdavidsparish.org. We will work to offer guidance on liturgical themes and other details. Thank you for considering this invitation!

Grow (literally) in faith at Good Courage Farm this year!

Join with other Creation-loving folks for four seasons of on-farm learning and practice through the Farm Stewards ministry at Good Courage Farm in Hutchinson. This immersive, agrarian faith formation experience invites you (and church friends new and old!) to commit one Saturday a month (March through October) to a prayerful, joyful, reciprocal relationship with the farm's fruit trees, grapevines, or animals. Reconnect your spiritual life with the land and its gifts. Share the real fruits of your labor with those who hunger. Deepen your literacy in reading both Creation and Scripture for revelations of God's generous love. Click here to learn more about growing with Good Courage Farm in 2025 - spiritually and literally.

ICA Update

Stamp Out Hunger - A Success!

ICA collected a total of 39,871 pounds of food through this year’s Stamp Out Hunger food drive! Many thanks to our generous community and the support of the National Association of Letter Carriers.

Every food donation helps to feed our neighbors. These food drive donations come at a critical time. During the summer, food demand typically rises while donations slow down. The annual postal food drive helps stock ICA’s shelves. Families rely on ICA when school meals pause & household budgets are stretched.

Thank you for caring and helping to make a difference.

Our mission: To create a healthy and stable community for all

Our vision: A community where everyone has the resources to thrive

Our belief: ICA’s presence in our communities makes our neighborhoods more stable and secure
