We invite you to join us in a variety of opportunities for reflection over the season of Lent. All activities can be read about in our Lent brochure. Paper copies are available at the church.
Using the nocturnal owl to represent our theme of staying awake through the night, we sit with Jesus' invitation and encouragement to courageously and steadfastly await the dawn of a new day.

Pysanky: Ukrainian Egg Decorating
Saturday March 7th 1:00-4:00pm
Decorate eggs for Easter the Ukrainian way!
Before being adopted by Christians celebrating Easter, the pagan practice of decorating eggs dates back roughly 2000 years. Eggs are decorated and either kept or given to a friend you wish to acknowledge.
This class is for adults and teenagers with an adult companion because open flame is involved in the decoration process. Participants should expect to stay the full 3 hours to complete the project. Please consider bringing empty egg cartons or used taper candles.
Email office@stdavidsparish.org to Sign-up - Space is limited!
Donation: Help Ukrainian Families
We invite you to support Ukrainian families through Episcopal Relief and Development who, with other Anglican partners in Europe, serves refugees impacted by the war in Ukraine. Click here to contribute.

Support ICA Every Week in March!
MN FoodShare Month
We are entering the second week of MN FoodShare Month. The MN FoodShare Program began in the early 1980’s to address critical food shortages caused by federal funding cuts. It is now the state’s largest grassroots food and fund drive, supporting over 300 food shelves annually through the March Campaign. Food security continues to grow.
Food insecurity is defined as the condition of not having access (or inconsistent access) to sufficient food or food of an adequate quality, to meet one’s basic needs.
Some Minnesota food insecurity facts:
- 1 in 5 households can’t afford the food they need.
- 26% of households with children are food insecure.
- 18% of households rely on the emergency food system.
- 40% of households of color are food insecure.
As you may recall, Instead of one ICA Sunday in March, we will be accepting your food and financial donations throughout the month of March.
Donation Focus for Sunday, March 8th: Protein Foods (shelf-stable)
This focus could include non-dairy milk, canned tuna & chicken, dried beans/lentils, protein bars, jerky.
As always, anything you wish to donate is always gratefully accepted.
You can bring your gifts of food to church any Sunday in March & put them in one of the ICA baskets located at every church entrance.
If you wish to make a financial gift, you can drop a check made out to ICA in the Sunday collection plate or you can go to www.icafoodshelf.org/donate. When you make a gift through ICA’s website, be sure to indicate you are a member of St. David’s.
Whatever way you choose to support ICA during MN FoodShare Month, please know it will truly make a difference.

Belinda’s Coat Auction for ICA
After more than 30 years of guiding us through Minnesota’s ever changing (& sometimes wild) weather, Belinda Jensen of KARE 11 is retiring in May. And she is celebrating by giving back. As she wraps up her career, Belinda is auctioning off the iconic coats and accessories she has worn on air over the years. 100% of the proceeds will benefit the ICA Food Shelf!
Belinda’s Coat Auction goes live on March 1, running through March 30. Nearly 40 coats and dozens of accessories will be available. This is your chance to own a piece of Minnesota broadcast history while making a meaningful impact in our community. Place your bid(s) and take home your own piece of Belinda’s journey at KARE 11. Winners will be notified by email on March 31.
If you make a winning bid, there will be a Coat Pick-up Celebration at the Food Shelf (K-Tel location) on Friday April 3. When you pick up your winning coat, enjoy treats with Belinda and the ICA team.
Check out pictures of Bel’s coat Auction at www.icafoodshelf.org, touch upper right corner for the menu. Then select Belinda’s Coat Auction.

Protect Elections & Restore Communities!
Hennepin County Board Meeting, March 10 at 12:15 PM
Our community is hurting: people who stayed home from work for fear of ICE now struggling to avoid eviction, small businesses who survived COVID wondering if they can keep their doors open, and facing ongoing cuts to food assistance and healthcare that threaten to close one of our county's most important hospitals. We're also facing threats of the same ICE agents who caused this harm being present at our voting booths in the fall to intimidate voters.
Our local county government plays an essential role in safety net programs and runs our elections, so we need to send them a clear message: Protect Our Elections and Restore Our Community!
We invite you to join us next Tuesday, March 10 to pack the room and speak up during the Commissioners' Board Meeting and share our expectations that they work with us to Protect & Restore. We will meet in the lobby of the Hennepin County Government Building at 12:15pm for a brief huddle, then head through security to the Board Meeting and sign up to speak during their public comment section. More details about logistics and suggested talking points can be found here. Will you join us and speak up for your community?
Sign up here to join us 3/10 at 12:15pm!

Endowment News
Pancake Dinner Report
On behalf of the Cornerstone Endowment Committee, I’d like to thank everyone who came to the Shrove Tuesday pancake dinner. We had a great turnout of around 70 people! It was a fun and sociable evening with a lot of animated conversations at each table.
Your generosity resulted in a freewill donation of $489 which we directed to ECMN for Bishop Loya’s Migrant fund. This community is so amazing in the way people step up. Your support of people in need is truly heart-warming!
And while I have your attention….
Similar to the Finance Committee, the Endowment Committee is also looking for new members. We meet every other month in odd numbered months (January, March, etc.) to discuss a wide range of items related to the St. David's Endowment fund.
While some topics are financially related, rest assured that we have professionals within St. David’s and the Episcopal Church Foundation to help guide us.
We cover a variety of items to ensure the Endowment is a meaningful part of church life. In addition to financial reviews, we might also work on marketing materials, planning events, or updating our website presence.
If you are interested in joining or would like to learn more, please contact Vida Edmond, Chair of the Endowment Committee, at vmedmond@gmail.com.
In gratitude,
Vida Edmond

A Prayer For Those Living in Fear of Deportation
God of exile and homecomings, you led your people through the wilderness and taught us that welcoming the stranger is an act of kindness and love. We pray for all who live in fear of Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids, detention, and deportation. We grieve the heavy-handed response to largely peaceful protests, and the weaponizing of institutions meant to protect. In your mercy, shield the vulnerable from unjust laws and misuse of power. Strengthen our resolve to stand with immigrants and refugees, not out of partisanship, but as followers of the Risen Christ, whose kingdom knows no border. Through your Spirit, make us agents of justice and peace. Amen.

Hats & Mittens
My heart is full! I am so grateful for the generosity of the people of St. David’s. In our third year of supporting Hats & Mittens, you donated more hats, mittens/gloves and scarves than ever before.
Hats & Mittens is a local non-profit organization that strives to ensure that children in the Twin Cities seven county metro area have access to warm hats and mittens. More than 260 non-profits working with children in the seven county metro area requested hats and mittens. This winter season Hats & Mittens had requests for over 50,000 sets of hats and mittens - the highest number ever!
Thank you ever so much for helping keep the children and youth in our Twin Cities community warm this winter season.
❤️Sue List
You can help spread the warmth.
