July is French American Heritage Month
In the United States, July is designated as National French-American Heritage Month and was established to honor the significant contributions made to the country by people of French descent. Currently, approximately 11.8 million Americans of French or French Canadian descent live and work in the United States, with about 2 million of those speaking French at home. As of the latest census, an additional 750,000 French-American citizens were added to those numbers due to the large creole community, whose language is based on French.

A significant goal of groups like the Alliance Française, who spearheaded events like French-American Heritage Month, is to dedicate the entire month of July to celebrating and honoring the immense influence that the French have had on the United States in terms of laws, art, culture, language, and social etiquette.

This month we will be spotlighting some of our French wine and spirits to celebrate this heritage in our DEI section below.

Self Identification at Martignetti Companies
Last week, we posted about Self Identification at Martignetti Companies in Community. Please take a few minutes to review the pinned announcement in Community if you haven't already.

To ensure that Martignetti Companies is a workplace where everyone belongs, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee has identified several ways for employees to learn about and implement pronoun usage in email signatures, business cards, and virtual profiles. This helps ensure a path to equity for those who do not conform to the assumed pronouns based on gender alone. Pronoun usage in communications contributes to expanded awareness with our co-workers, customers, suppliers, and vendors.

If you have ideas about how we can support the LGBTQIA+ Community throughout the year and/or would like to assist with this process, please email dei@martignetti.com.

Thank you,
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee
French-American Heritage Month Spotlight:
Studio by Miraval Rosé 2021

Pretty pale-pink, very limpid color with bluish reflections. This wine offers a very elegant nose with delicate notes of grapefruit and white flowers. Fresh and well-balanced, the palate is lively and reveals seductive aromas of citrus and sea iodine.

About the vineyard:
Tucked away in its own private valley in the ancient village of Correns – the first organic village in France – Miraval covers 500 hectares of land in the heart of Provence. The magnificent Chateau is set in a cirque surrounded by ancient woods, olive trees, vineyards and abundant water supply. Lush wildlife combines with the beautiful Provencal climate and quality Mediterranean lifestyle to reveal an enchanting oasis. Miraval's exclusive valley location embodies an exceptional terroir.
Domaine Delaporte Sancerre 2021

Pale gold with green hints. Very expressive, intense and complex nose with boxwood, rhubarb, blackcurrant, kiwi fragrances and a light vegetal touch (marigold). The entry is soft and round. Bright freshness on the palate, delicate and lively purity. Well balanced and harmonious, it ends with a clean lingering finish.

About the vineyard:
Located in the heart of the Sancerre region, Domaine Delaporte is a family business that has been passed from father to son since the 17th century. The domaine is found in the beautiful village of Chavignol, which is renowned for the goat cheese Crottin de Chavignol. Since 2010, Vincent Delaporte’s grandson, Matthieu Delaporte, has been focused on further improving the domaine’s wine. Precision, balance, and complexity are the maxims of the Domaine Delaporte cuvées, with each delivering a strong sense of individual terroir, marked by considerable minerality, power, and freshness.

Carolina Sales Division is featuring summer in a glass with Canella's Bellini and Puccini.
Canella Bellini is characteristically deep pink in color, the fragrance is just amazing: peach and raspberry, obviously, as well as apple and pear notes and subtle white flowers from the Prosecco; fun, peachy and refreshing on the palate. 75% Canella’s sparkling wine, 25% white peach juice, and a splash of raspberry juice.

Canella Puccini is a brilliant yellow color. 75% Canella sparkling wine & 25% mandarin juice from Sicily. Very strong notes of mandarin, citrus and citrus peel. In the mouth, you can taste the strong sweetness of the mandarin, and in a second moment the good acidity of the sparkling wine. Sensations of freshness, inviting you for a second sip!
United Sales Division is excited to feature NEW SelvaRey Rum from Bruno Mars.
Bruno Mars just wants to keep the party going. After collecting one gilded gramophone after another for his hip-swaying hits — most recently as Silk Sonic with Anderson Paak — the Grammy-winning musician aims to liven things up with his rum brand, SelvaRey.

Mars is more than just a starry face of the spirits company. He co-owns the Los Angeles-based label, which was launched in 2014 by brothers Seth Gold (a former real estate developer) and Marc Gold (a journalist-turned-retail owner) and their brother-in-law, Robert Herzig (a serial entrepreneur). The “Leave the Door Open” singer also brought on the rest of the Hooligans — his cohort of longtime musical collaborators — to back the brand.

SelvaRey Rum lineup includes chocolate, coconut and white rum and an Owner’s Reserve, each made from single-estate rum blends aged between three to five years in antique copper column stills in Pesé, Panama, by master blender Francisco “Don Pancho” Fernandez. Notes of vanilla, key lime pie, citrus and pineapple make up the white rum, while the chocolate rum is infused with toffee, cardamom and chocolate-covered espresso beans (both earned the highest rating for their category from trade magazine Tasting Panel).

Missed the video? Nope you didn't, it is being posted tomorrow 7/8 to usher in World Rum Day on 7/9. Keep a lookout HERE

Commonwealth Sales Division is excited to feature Maison No. 9 Rosé, recently featured on the cover of the July 2022 issue of Haute Wine and Spirits.
Post Malone is having quite the summer. After dropping his fourth studio album, Twelve Carat Toothache, in June, the nine-time Grammy nominee also announced that he had become a dad and a fiancé, and that he was heading out on a massive international tour. But no matter what the 26-year-old has going on, he always finds the time to kick back and relax with a glass (or bottle) of Maison No. 9, the French rosé he launched in 2019.

The Benefits of Seasonal Produce
In today’s supermarket, it’s normal to see the same
produce available year-round. However, that doesn’t
mean the quality always remains the same. Eating
seasonally means you are simply taking advantage of the
harvest schedule and enjoying fully mature produce at the
peak of its growing season. Seasonal eating can also help encourage you to eat more fruits and vegetables daily.

U.S. Drug Overdoses Hit Record High in 2021
An estimated 107,622 Americans died from drug overdoses in 2021, according to new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data. That’s a 15% increase from the previous year. Fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid, was involved in the most deaths. While overdose deaths have been on the rise for years, they surged during the pandemic, especially in its first year. Even as the pandemic slows, it won’t be a quick switch back to normalcy, as these conditions need to be addressed and treated.
