Walk in Love: Giving Campaign Update

"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." - Micah 6:8

Our annual Giving Campaign kicked off on Sunday, October 5th and will run through November 2 when we will celebrate the end of the campaign and All Saints Day. The theme this year is "Walk in Love” which is based on a scripture from Micah 6:8. A big thanks to Doug Eichten, Bonnie Boyd, and Allison Ferro for their inspirational witness talks and reflecting on what St David's means to them. As a parish with so many dedicated and active parishioners, the theme, Walk in Love, provides us the opportunity for each of us to reflect on how as followers of Jesus, when we align and come together in purpose and mission and walk in the same direction, we can do so many things together.

Thanks to the many people from whom we have already received pledges. While it is too soon to report to you on campaign results, we will be keeping you posted on our progress and hope to wrap up the campaign in one month. Please pray for a successful Giving Campaign and for guidance on your participation.

Listen to our witness talks, announcements and watch your inboxes and mailboxes for further information.

There are additional pledge packets available in the Narthex (entry way), Undercroft (lower level), and outside the office in the brochure stand if you need one. As always, feel free to contact the office if you need assistance.

Lord of heaven's reach, of earth reborn; you call us from starless graves to sing under infinite skies: we praise your name for those who have walked this way unheralded and unnumbered but known to you, their beginning, their end, their joy in life; give us the same grace to be unbound and take the step of faith; through Jesus Christ, the alpha and the omega. Amen.

Next ICA Sunday: November 2nd

The next ICA Sunday at St. David’s will be on November 2. Now more than ever, our support of ICA with both food & financial donations is important.

The number of households in Minnesota who experience food insecurity increased to 1 in 5 in 2025 compared to 1 in 6 in 2024. The number of households with children who didn’t have regular access to nutrition in increased to 26% in 2025 compared to 15% in 2024.

Another striking statistic: 18% of Minnesota households rely on the emergency food system.

And now, hunger in Minnesota may be further impacted by federal cuts to SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) that provides money for people with low income to buy groceries. This November the ISAIAH movement will be highlighting food insecurity.

Current needs at ICA include:

Food

  • Cereal
  • Oatmeal
  • Canned Fruit
  • Pancake Mix
  • Granola Bars

Non-Food

  • Shampoo
  • Paper Towels
  • Diapers (Sizes 3, 4, & 5)

Please know, anything you wish to donate is always welcome. Items can be dropped off in the ICA baskets located at the church entrances.

Thank you.

Our mission: To create a healthy and stable community for all

Our vision: A community where everyone has the resources to thrive

Our belief: ICA’s presence in our communities makes our neighborhoods more stable and secure

Formulate Our Yes Agenda
Tuesday, October 28, 6:00-8:30pm
St. David's Undercroft

During the Adult Forum on July 20th we began a discussion about issues we would like to see addressed in the state legislature to make a more positive future. Next Tuesday we will continue this discussion to more specifically and clearly state what we would like to see happen. We will create a Yes Agenda which reflects our mission and values.

Our Yes Agenda will be merged with the Yes Agendas from other ISAIAH and presented at the Lighthouse Path Statewide Convention on December 13. This is truly an opportunity for grassroots input into state policy. This is a non-partisan effort and everyone is invited to participate. We will meet in the Undercroft.

A Light in the Storm: Statewide ISAIAH Convention
December 13, 12:00-6:00pm

Minneapolis Convention Center

Our group at St. David’s, in partnership with ISAIAH, is coordinating with similar groups around the state and country to build a movement that can preserve our democracy and the civil rights our country was founded on. We don’t want to just wait and hope, we want to be part of creating a more positive future grounded in what God calls us to do – feed the hungry, care for the sick, welcome the stranger.

On Saturday, December 13, thousands of people from all over Minnesota will be gathering to ratify a shared set of priorities for the future and launch a path to caucus in 2026 around this shared “Yes Agenda”. We’ll also equip ourselves for the next phase of resistance to attacks on our civil rights and safety net programs, including large actions on Palm Sunday and July 4th.

  • Everyone is invited to attend even if you have not participated in other ISAIAH Lighthouse Path events. We are planning to carpool from church to the Convention Center. Register for the event here: https://bit.ly/ISAIAHDec13Event

Newcomer Ministry Seeking Additional Team Members

The Newcomer Ministry is reaching out to parishioners to join our team as "Shepherds" in welcoming newcomers into our fold. We envision the "Shepherd" role to be a St. David's parishioner paired with a Newcomer, serving as a resource or support for a period of time as the Newcomer becomes more integrated into community life at St David’s.

With this in mind, we are preparing to welcome St George’s members transitioning to St David’s and others who are joining us.

If you would like to learn more or would like to join the team, contact Ann Robinson, Jane Sandsmark, or email the office at office@stdavidsparish.org.

Opportunity to Join Handbell Choir!

Our Handbell Choir is still looking for one more member! Rehearsals occur weekly on Wednesdays from 6:15 to 7:00 and we normally play for the service on the 2nd Sunday of the month. Must be able to read music.

Please reach out to Keith Gause at gauses5@aol.com or his cell 612 800 3314.

An Exploration of Christian Nationalism

St. John's Episcopal Church, Minneapolis

What is Christian nationalism, and how is it different from Christianity? Is it the same as patriotism? How are Christians in the United States supposed to think about other countries?

Christian nationalism is an ideology that contends that America has been and should always be a “Christian nation.” It has become prominent in news coverage and among elected officials in the United States recently. Join us, and the Rev. Dan Stark, at St. John’s in the parish hall for four evenings this fall to explore this challenging but fascinating topic. Ultimately, we will explore what following Jesus’ Way of Love asks of us in relationship to this movement: how we, as Christians, should embody Jesus’ teachings as we engage the public sphere.

For those killed and wounded by senseless acts of violence.
