Lord of heaven's reach, of earth reborn; you call us from starless graves to sing under infinite skies: we praise your name for those who have walked this way unheralded and unnumbered but known to you, their beginning, their end, their joy in life; give us the same grace to be unbound and take the step of faith; through Jesus Christ, the alpha and the omega. Amen.

Walk in Love: Giving Campaign Update
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." - Micah 6:8
Our annual Giving Campaign "Walk in Love" will wrap up this Sunday, November 2. Thanks to all from whom we have already received pledges. This support helps now as we enter the budgeting phase of our financial plans for 2026. Please pray for a successful conclusion of our Giving Campaign and for guidance for our Finance Team.
Thanks again to our faithful witnesses, Doug Eichten, Bonnie Boyd, Allison Ferro, and Carol Johnson. To our Senior Warden. David Niles for his heartfelt letter to the congregation and to Katherine Lewis, our Rector for her inspirational message this week which can be read, here.
Join us on Sunday as we celebrate the end of the Walk in Love campaign and All Saints Day.
There are additional pledge packets available in the Narthex (entry way), Undercroft (lower level), and outside the office in the brochure stand if you need one. As always, feel free to contact the office if you need assistance.
Love from St David's Giving Campaign Team

THIS SUNDAY - ICA Sunday
Currently, 1 in 5 Minnesota households cannot afford the food they need. It is estimated that 40% of people experiencing hunger are not eligible for federal food assistance benefits. Currently about 440,000 Minnesotans do receive SNAP benefits. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a federal program that provides money for people with low incomes to buy groceries (about $6/day which makes the difference between going hungry and getting by).
New provisions under a federal law passed in July, 2025 will shrink food budgets across the state, change eligibility requirements (up to 45,000 Minnesotans may lose their SNAP benefits) and increase state & local costs. These changes will subsequently strain food shelves that are already facing record demand. Supporting food shelves, especially our local ICA, is more important than ever.
This Sunday, November 2, is the first Sunday of the month and that means it is ICA Sunday at St. David’s.
Current ICA needs include:
| | |
Food
- Cereal
- Oatmeal
- Canned Fruit
- Pancake Mix
- Granola Bars
| | | |
Non-Food
- Shampoo
- Paper Towels
- Diapers (Sizes 3, 4, & 5)
| | | |
The list above just suggestions. Anything you wish to donate is always appreciated. Bring your items to church this Sunday or drop them off in one of the ICA baskets, located at the church entrances.
While your food donations help bring in supplies for immediate use, a financial donation helps to ensure the shelves can be well-stocked. A check made out to ICA can be dropped in the Sunday collection plate (on any Sunday). You can also go online at www.icafoodshelf.org, choose Donate from the menu & follow the prompts. Be sure to indicate St. David’s when you are asked about your organization.
Thank you for your support.
Our mission: To create a healthy and stable community for all
Our vision: A community where everyone has the resources to thrive
Our belief: ICA’s presence in our communities makes our neighborhoods more stable and secure

October Vestry Update
The St. David's Vestry met the evening of October 20. We began with a delicious meal of baked ziti, salad, and snickerdoodle bars prepared by Julia Handley.
The meeting began with Gospel-Based Discipleship using Luke 18:9-14.
Tom Edmond was our Vestry visitor. He discussed activities surrounding the kitchen. Our kitchen is used by many, including St. David's, Mes Amis, and Laura Dickenson with Grammercy catering. A huge thank you to Tom, Sharon Engel, and Marion Stokes for all they do to coordinate coffee hour and especially for the recent deep clean of the refrigerator! Tom was thanked for his leadership on kitchen activities.
Our discernment topic was spending the $12,000 in funds authorized by the Endowment Committee for 2026. Ideas discussed included an external consultant to help us move our comprehensive campus initiative (CCI) forward, electric door openers to help with accessibility, and once again tithing a portion to local charities. We are also asking the congregation for ideas - please see the information elsewhere in this e-mail about submitting ideas!
We then moved to gratitudes and recognitions, where we thanked the four people giving witness talks during the giving campaign, Tom Edmond, Sharon Engel, and Marion Stokes for refrigerator cleaning, and Randy Schwichtenberg and David Pearson for participating in the ICA building walkthrough with a consultant to help us assess the physical state of the building ahead of the lease renewal.
We then reviewed and approved the minutes - you can find the minutes from the September meeting here. We also approved the September 2025 financials, which will be summarized in the Weekly News next week by our Treasurer, Stephen Ferro.
We reviewed the Rector's report, Wardens' report, and buildings and grounds report - you can find the Rector's report here and the Wardens' Report here.
Cathy Schwichtenberg closed the meeting with prayer.
The next Vestry meeting will be on Monday, November 17, at 6:45 pm in the Jones Room of the ICA building.

Isaiah MN Lighthouse Path Events
November: Full Plate Minnesota Month
From St. David’s ISAIAH Lighthouse Team
In Matthew 25:35-40, Jesus calls us to take care of those in need,
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'
The federal government decided this year to reduce the amount of food provided to food shelves, limit who is eligible for SNAP food assistance beginning November 1, 2025, and cut funding to county governments who administer these food assistance programs. All this is happening while the price of groceries continues to climb and food shelves are already seeing double or more the demand and visitors they saw even just a few years ago. For more information, follow this link: SNAP and the impact of federal cuts.
In addition, the federal administration has chosen not to use available emergency funds to cover SNAP benefits if the government shutdown continues past November 1. Consequently all 440,000 Minnesotans who receive SNAP assistance will lose the food support they depend upon. The impact on food shelves and meal programs will be tremendous. Currently SNAP provides nine meals for every one meal provided by food shelves.
In this context, we choose to lead together! Faith communities and neighborhood teams are coming alongside nonprofits and counties who provide food and/or food assistance to ensure that no Minnesotan goes hungry or faces the stress of not knowing where their next meal will come from. Together we can make Minnesota a #FullPlateState!
Here are some actions we can take at St. David’s:
November 2nd – Food drive! Every food shelf is struggling to keep up these days. Consider increasing your donations to ICA and Loaves and Fishes. See the article about ICA for specific products needed. Also, financial donations can go further because food programs get a discount from grocery providers. Put your donation in the offertory plate or mail to:
- ICA: 12900 St David's Rd, Minnetonka, MN 55305
- Loaves & Fishes: 721 Kasota Ave SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414
- or online https://www.loavesandfishesmn.org/ways-to-give/
Week of November 9th - Join a virtual Letter to the Editor Workshop. Those who attend will get some basic messaging training then have time to draft and submit a Letter to the Editor in their local newspaper to help raise public awareness and increase public pressure for elected leaders to take action. Options include:
- Tuesday, 11/11 from 7-8pm
- Wednesday, 11/12 from 7-8pm
- Thursday, 11/13 from 11am-noon
Week of November 16th - Call your legislators and county commissioners to urge action on food insecurity.
Week of November 23rd
- Sunday - Attend Interfaith Thanksgiving Service at Mills Church. Offertory will go to safety net programs.
- Monday - Sign-up to Volunteer with Loaves & Fishes on Monday November 24th
- Purchase Thanksgiving dinners.
A Light in the Storm: Statewide ISAIAH Convention December 13, 12:00-6:00pm
Minneapolis Convention Center
Our group at St. David’s, in partnership with ISAIAH, is coordinating with similar groups around the state and country to build a movement that can preserve our democracy and the civil rights our country was founded on. We don’t want to just wait and hope, we want to be part of creating a more positive future grounded in what God calls us to do – feed the hungry, care for the sick, welcome the stranger.
On Saturday, December 13, thousands of people from all over Minnesota will be gathering to ratify a shared set of priorities for the future and launch a path to caucus in 2026 around this shared “Yes Agenda”. We’ll also equip ourselves for the next phase of resistance to attacks on our civil rights and safety net programs, including large actions on Palm Sunday and July 4th.
Everyone is invited to attend even if you have not participated in other ISAIAH Lighthouse Path events. We are planning to carpool from church to the Convention Center. Register for the event here: https://bit.ly/ISAIAHDec13Event
