Advent's Vision
We are Advent Lutheran Church. As diverse children of God, we strive to be the embodiment of that which God wants all people on earth to be. We love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. We love our neighbor as ourselves, and express this love in service to others.
By accepting God's gift of grace through our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, we are reconciled to God forever.

Softball Sluggers
What's summer time without some serious softball? Here's a chance for Advent to show its stuff and help support Samaritan House at the same time! Samaritan House, a recuperative facility for homeless people being discharged from local hospitals, is recruiting teams to play in its Charity Softball Classic on August 26. Teams will need to register by July 20, so we need to start thinking about this right away and get some practice time in. Our Advent coordinator will be Jennie Henderson - yes, girls can most certainly play, too! Contact Jennie by July 9 at jhendersonfit@gmail.com if you are interested.
HELP BEAUTIFY OUR PROPERTY:
Want to help Property Board do odd jobs and clean-up around our Advent Property? See the list here. Select a job, tell Sandy Torrence you are handling it - and go to work! Thanks for helping!

Nurture, Support & Fellowship
Sexual Assault Survivor Support Group
An Anonymous support group of Sexual Assault Survivors is forming from Advent. If you need a safe place to talk, pray, or just be, please contact Pastor Ward. He will give you the contact information. You are not alone.
Can you crochet a "Granny Square"?
Advent's Prayer Team is seeking folks to help out in creating our Prayer Squares. It's a real easy pattern to learn, if you don't already know, and takes minutes to make!
Hearing assistance equipment has now been added to the Sanctuary sound system, and will be implemented, as soon as potential users have been registered, and training completed. If you would like to try out one of these personal receivers, during a Sunday service, please contact Gerry Osborne at (704) 792-9577 or scandia@ctc.net.
Communicate and Connect: Join the closed "Advent Friends" Facebook group to stay abreast of events and see photos.
If you would like to receive occasional important Advent news via text message on your phone, please text 'Advent' to 96362 or scan the QR code on the notices posted around the building. (Please note: you must be at least 16 years of age to participate in the program. You may receive up to five (5) text messages per month for which you may be charged by your mobile phone carrier. You may opt out of this service at any time by texting 'stop' to 96362 or by emailing aschado@adventlu.org.)
Please join the Health and Wellness Ministry every month for a walk on the Greenway. This is a great opportunity for Fresh Air and Fellowship.
We will meet after the second service on the First Sunday of every month. You can make your walk as short or as long as you want. We will meet in the Harris Teeter parking lot across from the Greenway Entrance at 12:15. Please bring a water bottle.
We will have drawings for some goodies of you commit early. Please let Jennie Henderson know if you plan on joining us to be entered into the drawing: jhendersonfit@gmail.com or 704-962-6930
AMAZON SHOPPING? USE "SMILE"
Don't forget - when shopping on Amazon, access the site through
http://smile.amazon.com/ch/56-1182420 , and simply do all of your Amazon on-line ordering through Smile.Amazon. Amazon will donate 0.5% of what you buy to Advent - not much, but if you're shopping anyway with Amazon, why not use Smile. Every penny will be used in service to God and His people.
