Advent's Vision
We are Advent Lutheran Church. As diverse children of God, we strive to be the embodiment of that which God wants all people on earth to be. We love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. We love our neighbor as ourselves, and express this love in service to others.
By accepting God's gift of grace through our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, we are reconciled to God forever.

Hurricane Harvey/Irma Relief
You may donate directly through the link above or you may donate through Advent. Just make checks payable to Advent and write "Hurricane Relief" on the memo line. You may also donate through On-line Giving. Just select "other" and write "Hurricane Relief" in the blank. We will in turn write a check to the ELCA Lutheran Disaster Response for the total of all donations.
Adventurers
will meet today, September 21st, 12 noon, in the gathering space. All members, family, and friends who find themselves available on the 3rd Thursdays of each month are cordially invited to attend. For September, we will provide a lasagna meal with salad and desserts. There is no need for anyone to bring food (this time!). Please come and join us.
Advent's Kairos Team
(Tim Caldwell, Andy Hagle, Chris Rasmussen, and Gerry Osborne)
continues to prepare for the next Kairos weekend at Foothills Correctional in Morganton from Oct 5 - 8. While your prayers for the team are welcome, your prayers for the inmate participants are even more important. Prayers are needed 24 hours a day for this entire weekend. Go to
www.3dayol.org, find the listing for Foothills, select a time and date, then enter your name, OR call or send a message to one of Advent's Kairos Team members and provide them with that same information.
In addition, it's not too late to have the little ones (4+) and our seniors to create placemats (8.5" x 14" or larger), using colored markers or crayons, but no paint, glitter or laminating. Use uplifting themes and messages, such as "God Loves You", but no prison or crime related themes. Please only write your first name and an age, not last names or locations. If you are wondering about donations, please speak with one of Advent's Kairos Team members, as it costs approximately $ 15,000 for each sponsored weekend. Donations are accepted year-round into Advent's permanent fund, and goes toward our share of the expenses for the 2 weekends that Advent annually participates in. This covers meals for inmate participants & volunteers, cookies for all inmates and prison employees (3,000 to 4,000 dozen needed), sleeping accommodations, and supplies.

Blessing of the Animals
