Dear Family & Friends of ICSC, 

Join us at the Center this weekend to serve, learn and have some fun! 

This Sunday, we are excited to invite you to a diverse panel conversation (at 12:15 p.m..) with Asim Buyuksoy, Mustafa Zeno and Tarek Shawky as they discuss the journey of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the Hijrah and how it relates to the current refugee crisis taking place in Syria. Sheikh Asim will focus on the history of the Hijrah, while Mustafa outlines the realities of the crisis in Syria and how it is impacting his family and friends. Tarek will represent Tiyya, a local refugee organization, how we can help here in the Los Angeles area. Don't miss this conversation!

If you're looking for ways to give back, please consider joining the dedicated volunteers from our weekly Food Pantry in distributing fresh, nutritious groceries on Saturday mornings from 10:30 a.m. - noon. This opportunity is open to people of all ages. Another chance to serve will be Sunday from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. when the Center organizes a volunteer group to serve dinner service to the men, women and children staying at the Union Rescue Mission. This is a fun event and a great way to meet people from the community. Registration is required to participate in this Serve & Connect event, please RVSP ([email protected]) to secure your spot.

ICSC Prays for a Cause
Jihad Turk, President of Bayan Claremont Islamic Graduate School, represented the Islamic Center of Southern California at the Hand-in-Hand Hurricane Relief Benefit for the victims of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. Justin Bieber stood amongst Rabbi Ari Lukas, Pastor John Gray and Jihad Turk during a prayer led by Pastor Gray. (Read the article here!)

Senator Feinstein's Office @ ICSC
The ICSC met with Cameron Onumah, Senior Field Representative for Senator Diane Feinstein, on Thursday Sept. 15 for a general meet and greet. In addition, this meeting gave the Center and the Senator's office an opportunity to discuss current goals and initiatives and see how we might collaborate on projects in the future.
