The Los Alamos Winter Classic will host teams from El Paso, Amarillo, and Alamosa, ranging in age from Pee-Wee to High School. High School Varsity games are scheduled for each day during the event.

Gates open at 1 p.m. on Dec. 11th for the NAHL game, handicapped parking will be available at the ice rink, however, due to parking limitations, attendees will need to park at Sullivan Field and then board a shuttle for the game. Los Alamos County seeking insights to improve new website

Los Alamos County awarded a contract to Granicus, LLC to redesign and host the Los Alamos County government website at https://losalamosnm.us to launch in late July 2023. The county project team is asking web users to take a short survey and share experiences (positive or negative) in navigating and finding information on the existing county website. This information will inform the team on a new design that is more user-friendly.

To take the survey, individuals are instructed to visit the county's webpage at https://losalamosnm.us and click on the yellow image that says, "Help us improve our website."

Additionally, the project team is looking for volunteers to test the proposed new website's navigation structure in a couple of months. Individuals willing to spend 15 minutes or less to test the site are asked to complete an online form now with a name and an email. Then, in January, when the navigation structure is ready to try, the project team will email the volunteer pool with a link and instructions.

The county project team thanks the community in advance for their input and time to help create a county website that performs well for a wide range of constituents.

Questions or comments may be emailed to the county's Public Information Officer, Julie Williams-Hill at julie.williams@lacnm.us.

Tidbits and Treasures

Enjoy free access to NYT Games this holiday season (and all year round)!

Did you know that Los Alamos County Library System offers free digital access to New York Times Games such as Wordle, Sudoku, Crossword and Mini Crossword, Spelling Bee, and more? The local libraries are even hosting a fun two-month-long, self-paced challenge around this service to familiarize library users with the individual games (fun freebies and incentives included)! To participate, just swing by a library service desk to request a game sheet or download one from the library event calendar.

The holiday season is a great time to engage friends and family in games or to curl up on your own to tackle the challenges. Access and learn each of the games within minutes through a user-friendly digital platform. Pair this service with the structure of the library’s bingo-style, self-paced challenge and you’ll be an expert NYT gamer in no time! You’ll also earn a completion prize (mini Rubik’s cube, anyone?) and a chance to win a Brain Games puzzle book.

The library strives to offer a wide range of regular live programming to the Los Alamos community and will be taking a break from mid-December through the end of January to plan next year’s offerings. In lieu of live programming during this time, library users are encouraged to participate either in the NYT Games challenge outlined above, or the Native American Heritage reading and activity challenge (both of which are offered through the end of January as self-paced programs).

For more information about either of these programs or the library’s live program offerings, please visit the event calendar at LosAlamosLibrary.org. Library programs and services are made possible by the generous support of Friends of Los Alamos County Library System.
