Week of May 3, 2021
Aubrey W. ~ 6th Grade
Aubrey W. is a 6th Grader at Lewis F. Mayer Middle School. Aubrey has been doing excellent work all school year. In the month of April, she has maintained straight A's. Aubrey and her partner excelled on the Shark Tank presentation, setting the bar high for their classmates. Throughout this school year, the sixth grade teachers have stressed the importance of always “choosing kind.” Aubrey is definitely a role model to others in being able to choose kind in all life situations. She actively participates in class and does a nice job on her work without needing praise or attention. We can always count on her to do the right thing whether we are watching or not. Daily she does what she needs to do with a sweet disposition and without being involved in any kind of drama. Aubrey is also a joy to have in Orchestra. She is always prepared by practicing her music at home. She is a strong leader and is always asking questions or helping others. It has been a true pleasure to have Aubrey in our classes, and we are so excited that she can be honored by being Warrior of the Month!! Keep up the great work, Aubrey!

Also nominated:
Niyla R. ~ 7th Grade
Sadie F. ~ 8th Grade
Andrew H. ~ 9th Grade
Andrew H. is a 9th Grade Student at Fairview High School. Andrew was selected as Warrior of the Month because he works to the best of his ability and takes pride in his school work. He takes school seriously and approaches all that he does with positivity and a genuine smile on his face! He is always on camera in class which makes teaching him that much more enjoyable! Keep up the great work and attitude, Andrew!
Stay tuned for more information in regards to Middle School Yearbooks! As soon as order forms are delivered to the school, we will distribute them in class. Hoping to have more information next week!

This is our annual music department fundraiser and all donations go to support these talented musicians. Students should arrive 30 minutes prior to their performance time. 50/50 Raffle, drinks and some snacks (cash only) will be available for purchase from the Fairview Park Music and Theatre Association on the FHS lawn throughout the day.

We would like to create a community concert feel, so bring your lawn chairs, blankets and enjoy the day. You are welcome to stay as long as you like. We will be following Covid protocols so we ask that you wear masks and social distance. The Fairview Park Music and Theatre Association will be there with drinks and packaged snacks for purchase, as well as their awesome 50/50 raffle. Should the day involve inclement weather, we will move the event indoors to the auditorium. This will require different performing times (which we will provide once we know the status of the weather for the event). From the Middle School/High School PTA:
Let’s face it. This school year has been weird. But we’re getting through it, in part thanks to our nation’s amazing educators. Take a moment to #ThankATeacher during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 3-7

What YOU can do to help:
1) Participate in our Thank You Card Campaign!
Use your own stationery, or, here is a link to the national PTA Teacher Appreciation week page with many downloadable templates, cards and stickers.
Students can bring in thank you cards/small tokens of appreciation to those teachers and staff members they wish to thank. Parents should also consider sending in thank-yous if they feel moved to. A heartfelt “I see your hard work, and appreciate you” goes a long way.
2) Sign up to donate items for the breakfast we will provide for all teachers and staff that week! Here is the link to sign up.

Thanks in advance for making this a “feel good” week for our hard working, dedicated, talented, and devoted teachers!
The 2021 senior calendar has been updated again (prom tickets are now $30) and can be found here. It includes important information and key dates. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Bennhoff in the Main Office.

Senior students with outstanding fee balances will NOT be able to participate in Commencement program exercises and their Diplomas will be held until all fees have been settled. If you have any questions regarding your students outstanding balances, please contact Mrs. Tieri at atieri@fairview.k12.oh.us or 440.356.3510 ext 3101.
Planning to bring a date to Prom that does not attend Fairview High School? No problem, but we do need you and your guest to fill out our “out of school guest form”. Forms can be found in the High School Main Office and must be turned in when you purchase your Prom tickets. Please remind your guests that masks must be worn.

May Is Mental Health Awareness Month. It is time to raise awareness of those living with mental or behavioral mental health issues and to help reduce the stigma so many experience.
The Positivity Pledge is an opportunity to support mental health, depression, and suicide prevention education in middle and high schools across the country. Join us in our efforts to ensure no teen feels alone and everyone deserves good mental health.

The Positivity Pledge calendar creates an opportunity for individuals to commit to 31 days focused on positive actions, helping others, self-care, and establishing good habits for positive mental health. Examples of daily activities include spreading the love by sending a healthy snack to those in need; making a list of traits you love about yourself; and finding time for self-reflection. This is an opportunity for all of us to focus on ourselves while also working together to make the world a better place.

Gilles-Sweet Derby Dash
Gilles-Sweet Elementary invites you to the 2021 Derby Dash! We are excited to provide students, families and the Fairview Park community the opportunity to join us for our annual Derby Dash 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, May 22, 2021. We are looking for sponsorships to help make this event a success.

Hello Fairview Park Families,
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and boy do we all need some help this year! What is it about?

Mental Health Awareness Month provides a timely reminder that mental health is essential and that those living with mental health issues are deserving of care, understanding, compassion, and pathways to hope, healing, recovery, and fulfillment. After all, that is what we all want and need now more than ever– for ourselves, for our loved ones, for our communities, and for our world.
Two important questions I hope every child can answer:
1) Do you have an adult in your life that you can talk to about anything?
2) Tell me 3-4 skills you can do to calm yourself down
( Count backwards from 20, go for a walk, play a game on my phone, listen to music, etc).
Take some time this month to talk to your child about their own mental health as well as mental illness.
