Kolo Dancing Night Out (February 12-March 26)
When: Saturdays following Vespers (roughly 6:30pm)
Where: St. Sava Church Hall
Who: Beginners to Advanced (adult focused with children welcome)
Why: For exercise, fun, and camaraderie
What: Bring your work-out clothes, shoes, and positive energy

Register by calling/texting Zvonko at 617-372-2981 or right before the start of the tournament (at 7 pm)
Donations: Please make check payable to Serbs for Serbs (All proceeds from the tournament go to the Humanitarian Organization Serbs for Serbs)
Who can participate: All ages and all levels

During the Epiphany celebration on January 19 each year, we have a service of the Great consecration of water. From this day, Fr. Aleksandar traditionally visits families in their homes for a yearly house blessing.

"Serbian Choirs in America"
„Among the Serbs who emigrated to America as young men there were those who were well versed in Serbian Orthodox church chant... In America, too, cantors transmitted their skill to younger people, so that cantors in America 'occupied' the choir apse for more than half a century...
The role of church cantors in America was important, especially when not every parish had a choir which would replace these valuable assistants to the parish priest. It was through Serbian church chanting that the clergy endeavored to preserve the character of the Liturgy in their national Church...
The first choir was formed in Chicago on November 8, 1906. It was a male choir... The oldest choir in America was named after Branko Radičević, and it performed not only in Chicago but in many American towns with a Serbian population; its concerts were even broadcast by Radio Belgrade. After 1933 the Branko Radičević Choir became a mixed chorus and began to sing regularly at church services."

„Међу Србима који су се као млади људи доселили у Америку било је и добрих познавалаца црквеног појања... И у Америци су ти појци преносили своје знање на млађе, те су појци у Америци "држали" певнице више од пола века...
Улога црквених појаца у Америци била је драгоцена, нарочито у време када још није било у свакој парохији хора који је могао заменити ове драгоцене помоћнике парохијског свештенства. Свештенство је и путем српског црквеног певања желело да сачува карактер богослужења своје народне Цркве...
До оснивања првог хора у Америци дошло је 8. новембра 1906. године у Чикагу. Хор је био мушки... Овај најстарији српски хор у Америци добио је име "Бранко Радичевић" и певао је не само у Чикагу, већ и у многим америчким градовима где је било Срба, а његови концерти могли су се чути и преко талаца Радио-Београда. од 1933. године, "Бранко Радичевић" постаје мешовити хор и од тада почиње његово редовно певање на богослужењима."

Sunday of the Publican and Pharisee
“Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men – extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Недеља о Митару и Фарисеју
Два човека уђоше у цркву да се моле Богу, један фарисеј и други цариник. Фарисеј стаде и мољаше се у себи овако: Боже! Хвалим те што ја нисам као остали људи: хајдуци, неправедници, прељубочинци или као овај цариник. Постим двапут у недељи; дајем десетак од свега што имам. А цариник издалека стајаше, и не хтеде ни очију подигнути на небо, него бијаше прси своје говорећи: Боже! Милостив буди мени грешноме. Кажем вам да овај отиде оправдан кући својој, а не онај. Јер сваки који се сам подиже понизиће се; а који се сам понижује подигнуће се.
