It is time to schedule house blessings. Each year after Theophany, we make it a priority to bless our homes. Just as our churches are blessed with Holy Water each year at Theophany, so it is with our homes.

How often are homes blessed? There is no straight answer to this question. Typically, homes are blessed annually following Theophany (Epiphany), but they can be blessed at any time. For example, when you move into a new home, after new construction or renovations, or during a distressing time, you are encouraged to invite your priest to bless your home.

What do we need to prepare? Please schedule a time with your priest and family members. The items needed for the blessing include a bowl of water, a candle, an icon, the names of all household members, and a censer if you have one.

Време је да се закаже освећење вашег дома. Сваке године после Богојављења планирамо освећење наших кућа и станова. Као што се наше цркве сваке године на Богојављење освећују Светом водом, тако се освећују и наши домови!

Колико често се домови освећују?

На ово питање нема једног јединог одговора. Најчешће се домови освећују једном годишње, након Богојављења али могу бити освећени у било које време. На пример, ако се уселите у нову кућу или стан, имате нову градњу или пролазите кроз тежак период — позовите свог свештеника да освети ваш дом!

Шта је потребно припремити?

Потребно је да договорите термин са својим свештеником и члановима породице. Предмети потребни за освећење су: посуда са водом, свећа, икона, имена чланова домаћинства и кадионица (ако је имате).

When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”

And He said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here who will not taste death till they see the kingdom of God present with power.”
