Срећне Материце свим мајкама у нашој парохији!

On the second Sunday before Christmas, called Mother's Day, fathers and children "tie" their mothers and they have to "untie" themselves. On the Sunday before Christmas, called Father's Day, mothers and children "tie" their fathers and they have to "untie" themselves. This mutual "untying" is the mutual giving of the gift of love, which creates the festal, solemn atmosphere in the family, Christian circles. Such a festal atmosphere was created by the Wise Men who came from the East to the Holy Family of the Christ Child prostrating themselves before Him at the cave in Bethlehem, with the gifts of myrrh, frankincense and gold. The symbolism of this mutual "tying" and "untying" of children and parents is clear: we are preparing ourselves in welcoming the most joyous Christian feast - Christmas, that reconciled man with God untying him from the bonds of sin and binding him with the new ties of love for God. In the desire, therefore, that we welcome His coming bound with the tightest ties of mutual love, since He too is Love, which is the "bond of perfection" and on Children's, Mother's and Father's Day we are mutually being "tied" and "untied". This tying and untying go beyond our family circle and goes to our relatives, friends and all of our acquaintances and thus the spontaneous tying and untying of all Serbs, Orthodox Christians, before the Feast of the Nativity of our Savior, occurs, who unbound Adam and Eve of eternal death and gave them life eternal.  

And so, the Serbian people exclusively created this based on their own experience of our Christian-Orthodox calendar which is also our Serbian national calendar. Children's, Mother's and Father's Day are, therefore, our national holidays strung upon the forfeast of the Nativity of Christ, so that in the middle is Mother's Day, the day of mothers, since mothers are the tie according to which we say, "if there were no mothers, there would be no world".

У другу недељу пред Божић, која се зове Материце, оци и деца "везују" мајке (матере), а оне им се "дреше". У недељу пред сам Божић, која се зове Оци, мајке и деца "везују" оце, а они им се "дреше". Ово узајамно "дрешење" је узајамно чињење поклона љубави, што ствара празничну, свечану атмосферу у породичним хришћанским круговима. Такву празничну атмосферу створили су источни мудраци светој породици Богодетета поклонивши Му се у Витлејемској пећини, уз дарове: смирне, тамјана и злата. Символика овог узајамног "везивања" и "дрешења" деце и родитеља јасна је: припремамо се за дочек најрадоснијег празника хришћанског - Божића, који је помирио човека са Богом одрешивши га веза греховних, а везавши га новом везом љубави за Бога. У жељи, дакле, да Његов долазак сачекамо везани најчвршћим везама међусобне љубави, јер је и Он - Божић - Љубав, која је "свеза савршенства", и ми се о Детињцима, Материцама и Оцима међусобно "везујемо" и "дрешимо". То везивање и дрешење превазилази наше породичне кругове и простире се на рођаке, пријатеље и све наше познанике, и тако настаје спонтано опште српско, православно-хришћанско прослављање везивања и дрешења пред наступајући празник Рођења Спаситељева, који је одрешио Адама и Еву од вечне смрти и подарио им живот вечни.

И тако, искључиво српски народ је осмислио на свом сопственом искуству наш хришћанско-православни календар, који је уједно и српски народни календар. Детињци, Материце и Оци су, дакле, наши народни празници нанизани у предпразништву Рођења Христовог, тако да су у средини Материце, дан мајки, јер је мајка веза по којој "да није мајке, ни света не би било".

Dear Parents, 

Attached please find the link to poems for the St. Sava celebration, as well as the link to the sign-up sheet. The St. Sava program will be on Sunday, January 30, 2022, following the Liturgy. Please sign up by January 22 to be included in the official program. We will likely have a rehearsal on Sunday, January 23. This is open to all children - you don't have to be enrolled in Sunday School to participate.

As you will see when you open the link, there are some poems that are intended to be recited by multiple kids. They are short conversations or mini plays. Please coordinate with siblings or friends if you would like to choose one of these for your child.

Прилажемо вам листу песмица за светосавску прославу, као и линк за пријаву. Светосавски прoграм ће се одржати у недељу, 30. јануара, 2022., одмах после Литургије. Молимо вас да изаберете песмицу до 22. јануара. Пробу ћемо највероватније имати недељу дана раније, 23. јануара. Програм је отворен за сву заинтересовану децу, без обзира да ли су чланови Недељне школе или не.

Као што можете видети, неке песмице се могу рецитовати у групи од пар деце. Можете удружити браћу и сестре, или родбину и пријатеље, па се договорити међусобно ко ће који део да изводи.

Песмице на српском језику почињу од 15. странице.

The first said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.’ And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.’ Still another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’ So that servant came and reported these things to his master.
