The first week is always successful and easy. We fast with more effort and less consciously, but what is done with the heart leads to the goal more efficiently. The second week requires more will and perseverance. The relationship between the beginning and the continuation is similar to the relationship between adoration and love. We have reached the second week of Lent...

The Gospel read on the Second Sunday of Lent reminds us of the most important thing. It encourages us to find and maintain faith and continue our efforts. It also reminds us that our path to the Kingdom of Heaven is a joint effort...

The church is a community, and fasting is a joint activity. We should remember that, especially when we get discouraged. My faith affects others, and their faith affects me. And no one knows whose faith and love will save us, heal us, and shine on us. We work on our faith and love and always think of others first, and God already knows what is best for each of us. All of us with our own passions and repeated mistakes and sins are like that paralytic (paralyzed man) from the Gospel. And we all need faith in the Lord and love for God and people.

Fasting is a feat, an intense movement. It's not visible to the naked eye, but in addition to "self-improvement," it also includes acts of love—let's not forget about that. No matter how hard we try, we can't get anything without the Lord, but if we don't try to be closer to him, why should we hope. Then we don't care. And faith is manifested through actions...

The second week passes, and we continue with new strength in the Lenten journey so that, through the Cross and the Passion, we will ultimately reach Easter!

Прво увек боље и лакше успева. Ради са са више труда и мање свесно, али оно што се ради срцем лакше се доведе до циља. Оно што се ради други пут укључује више вољне активности, тражи истрајност. Однос између почетка и наставка помало личи на однос заљубљености и љубави. Стигли смо до друге недеље Великог поста...

Одломак јеванђеља који се чита у Другу недељу поста подсећа на оно најважније, и храбри нас да пронађемо и не губимо лако веру. И да не попуштамо у труду. Подсећа нас и да је наш пут ка Царству небеском заједнички...

Црква је заједница и пост је заједничка активност. Не би то требало да заборавимо, поготово кад нас ухвати малодушност. Моја вера утиче на друге и вера других на мене. И нико не зна чијом вером и чијом љубављу ће се ко и кад спасити, оздравити, заблистати. Радимо на својој вери и својој љубави и увек најпре притом мислимо на друге, а Бог већ зна шта је за кога од нас најбоље. Сви смо ми својим страстима и понављаним грешкама и гресима као тај узети из јеванђеља. И свима нам је потребна вера у Господа и љубав према Богу и људима.

То је оно на чему ми радимо током поста. Подвиг. Двиг је стара словенска реч за кретање - двиг и по. И то заједничко интензивније кретање. То је кретање које не мора да се види споља, али које осим "самопоправљања" и "самоусавршавања" укључује и дела љубави - не заборавимо на то. Колико код се трудили, не можемо сами ништа без Господа добити, али ако се не трудимо да му будемо ближи, зашто да се и надамо. Онда нам и није стало. А вера се кроз дела испољава...

Пролази и друга недеља, а ми са новом снагом идемо даље у великопосном путовању, да бисмо на крају, преко Крста и Страдања, стигли и до Васкрса!

A Conversation about Faith

Father Aleksandar invites you to join the informal religious education classes for adult parishioners that will be held for the next four weeks from 12:30 to 2:00 pm in the parish office.

His Grace Bishop Irinej will visit our parish and take part in the First Vigil together with visiting priests on Wednesday, April 17, at 7:00 p.m.

A joint dinner will follow in the church hall. You are all invited.

Sunday of St. Gregory Palamas

And again He entered Capernaum after some days, and it was heard that He was in the house. Immediately many gathered together, so that there was no longer room to receive them, not even near the door. And He preached the word to them. Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men. And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.” And some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, “Why does this Man speak blasphemies like this? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” But immediately, when Jesus perceived in His spirit that they reasoned thus within themselves, He said to them, “Why do you reason about these things in your hearts? Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise, take up your bed and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins” – He said to the paralytic, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” Immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went out in the presence of them all, so that all were amazed and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!"

I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep. I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.

И уђе опет у Капернаум после неколико дана; и чу се да је у кући. И одмах скупише се многи тако да не могаху ни пред вратима да се збију; и казиваше им реч. И дођоше к Њему с одузетим кога су носили четворо. И не могући приближити се к Њему од народа открише кућу где Он беше, и прокопавши спустише одар на коме одузети лежаше. А Исус видевши веру њихову рече узетоме: Синко! Опраштају ти се греси твоји. А онде сеђаху неки од књижевника и помишљаху у срцима својим: Шта овај тако хули на Бога? Ко може опраштати грехе осим једног Бога? И одмах разумевши Исус духом својим да они тако помишљају у себи, рече им: Што тако помишљате у срцима својим? Шта је лакше? Рећи узетоме: Опраштају ти се греси, или рећи: Устани и узми одар свој, и ходи? Но да знате да власт има Син човечји на земљи опраштати грехе, (рече узетоме:) Теби говорим: устани и узми одар свој, и иди дома. И уста одмах, и узевши одар изађе пред свима тако да се сви дивљаху и хваљаху Бога говорећи: Никада тога видели нисмо.

Ја сам врата; ко уђе кроза ме спашће се, и ући ће и изићи ће, и пашу ће наћи. Лупеж не долази низашта друго него да украде и убије и погуби; ја дођох да имају живот и изобиље. Ја сам пастир добри; пастир добри душу своју полаже за овце. А најамник, који није пастир, коме нису овце своје, види вука где иде, и оставља овце, и бежи: и вук зграби овце и распуди их; А најамник бежи, јер је најамник и не мари за овце. Ја сам пастир добри и знам своје, и моје мене знају. Као што мене зна Отац и ја знам Оца; и душу своју полажем за овце. И друге овце имам које нису из овог тора, и оне ми ваља довести; и чуће глас мој, и биће једно стадо и један пастир.
