| | A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us on August 23 for our SerbFest pita-making day! With 18 wonderful volunteers, we prepared over 600 pitas for this year’s festival. Your hard work, fellowship, and joy made the day a true success! | | SERVICES IN OUR AND NEIGHBORING PARISHES | | |
In the past ten days, there has been much activity in the Boston parish as well as in the neighboring parishes of Portland and Hartford. On the eve of the Feast of the Transfiguration and on the feast day itself, Fr. Aleksandar served the vespers and Divine Liturgy in Cambridge, and on Saturday, August 23, he traveled to Biddeford, Maine, where he substituted for Fr. Ivan. On Sunday, August 24, he concelebrated with the newly assigned priest, Fr. Aleksandar Praščević, to whom he extended a warm welcome and formally entrusted the parish of Sts. Cyril and Methodius in Connecticut. In Cambridge, the services were led by Fr. Rumen Pelovski.
On the eve of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, Vespers were served at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard, and on the feast day itself, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated, at which about 20 young parishioners, who live and work on the island, participated and received Holy Communion.

12th Sunday after Pentecost
Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?” So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.” He said to Him, “Which ones?” Jesus said, “’You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’ Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ “ The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept from my youth. What do I still lack?” Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
