Happy Fathers' Day to all fathers in our parish!

Срећни Оци свим очевима у нашој парохији!

In celebrating FATHER’S DAY we remember with esteem all the holy fathers from both the old and new Church. We also remember all the Serbian fathers who gave their lives for “the Holy Cross and golden freedom.”

Psychology and Religion agree that a child receives his/her first idea about God from his/her parents. And the role of the father is vital in developing that idea. Traditionally, one of the first things we teach our children is to cross themselves and pray, “In the name of the Father, and of the Son and the Holy Spirit.”



Consequently, the word “Father” is tied to God from the very beginning. Also, the first prayer we teach our children is the Lord’s Prayer which begins with “Our Father…” Again, here is a tremendous responsibility imposed upon the father since the word “Father” is tied directly to God. With this concept, we are telling our children that God is like our Father. And this puts a heavy load on the father for he must be an example of everything good, moral, and charitable. 

Прослављајући Оце са поштовањем се сећамо свих светих отаца и старе и нове Цркве. Сетимо се и свих српских отаца који су дали своје животе за „Крст часни и слободу златну“.

Психологија и религија се слажу да дете добија прву идеју о Богу од својих родитеља. А улога оца је витална у развоју те идеје. Традиционално, једна од првих ствари којима учимо нашу децу је да се прекрсте и моле: „У име Оца и Сина и Светога Духа“.

Сходно томе, реч „Отац” је од самог почетка везана за Бога. Такође, прва молитва коју учимо нашу децу је молитва Господња која почиње са „Оче наш…“ Опет, овде је огромна одговорност наметнута оцу јер је реч „Отац“ директно везана за Бога. Овим концептом говоримо нашој деци да је Бог као наш Отац. А то ставља велики терет на оца, јер он мора бити пример свега доброг, моралног и добротворног.

Dear parishioners,

God willing, we are celebrating the Nativity of Jesus Christ next week, so I hope to see you for at least one of the Christmas Services. For those of you who cannot join us in person this year, we will be streaming live services via Facebook and our website.

The current epidemiological situation is not favorable, so please follow the recommendations of the city of Cambridge, including wearing masks in the church and the hall, except when eating and drinking.

If you want to avoid the crowds, I recommend you come to the service on Badnjidan morning, when a small number of faithful traditionally come. You will be able to take the consecrated badnjak during the day in front of the church or inside the church. The church will be open on Christmas Eve from 9 am to 9 pm, and on Christmas Day until noon. You can take Communion on Christmas Eve Liturgy and Christmas morning. On Christmas Eve, after the evening service, a lenten dinner will be offered in the church hall. Also, in front of the church, there will be refreshments with tea and rakija.

Ако Бог да, идуће седмице прослављамо Рођење Христово па се надам да ћу вас видети бар за једну од Божићних служби. За вас који нисте у могућности да нам се придружите и ове године ћемо преносити службе уживо путем Фејсбука и наше веб странице.

Тренутна епидимиолошка ситуација није баш најбоља па вас молим да поштујете препоруке надлежних органа, укључујући ношење маски у цркви и у сали, осим када се једе и пије. Уколико желите да избегнете гужву, препоручујем да дођете на службу на Бадњи дан ујутру када традиционално долази мали број верника. Освећени бадњак ћете моћи да узимате током целог дана.

Црква ће бити отворена на Бадњи дан од 9 ујутру до 9 увече, а на Божић до подне. Можете се причестити на Бадњи дан ујутру или на Божићњој Литургији. На Бадње вече после вечерње службе биће понуђена посна вечера у црквеној сали. Такође, испред цркве ће бити послужење уз чај и врућу ракију.

Dear Parents, 

Attached please find the link to poems for the St. Sava celebration, as well as the link to the sign-up sheet. The St. Sava program will be on Sunday, January 30, 2022, following the Liturgy. Please sign up by January 22 to be included in the official program. We will likely have a rehearsal on Sunday, January 23. This is open to all children - you don't have to be enrolled in Sunday School to participate.

As you will see when you open the link, there are some poems that are intended to be recited by multiple kids. They are short conversations or mini plays. Please coordinate with siblings or friends if you would like to choose one of these for your child.

Прилажемо вам листу песмица за светосавску прославу, као и линк за пријаву. Светосавски прoграм ће се одржати у недељу, 30. јануара, 2022., одмах после Литургије. Молимо вас да изаберете песмицу до 22. јануара. Пробу ћемо највероватније имати недељу дана раније, 23. јануара. Програм је отворен за сву заинтересовану децу, без обзира да ли су чланови Недељне школе или не.

Као што можете видети, неке песмице се могу рецитовати у групи од пар деце. Можете удружити браћу и сестре, или родбину и пријатеље, па се договорити међусобно ко ће који део да изводи.

Песмице на српском језику почињу од 15. странице.

Judah begot Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram. Ram begot Amminadab, Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon. Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David the king. David the king begot Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah. And he called His name JESUS.

А Јосиф муж њен, будући побожан и не хтевши је јавно срамотити, намисли је тајно пустити. Но кад он тако помисли, а то му се јави у сну анђео Господњи говорећи: Јосифе, сине Давидов! Не бој се узети Марије жене своје; јер оно што се у њој зачело од Духа је Светог. Па ће родити Сина, и надени Му име Исус; јер ће Он избавити свој народ од греха њихових. А ово је све било да се изврши шта је Господ казао преко пророка који говори: Ето, девојка ће затруднети, и родиће Сина, и наденуће Му име Емануило, које ће рећи: С нама Бог. Кад се Јосиф пробуди од сна, учини како му је заповедио анђео Господњи, и узме жену своју. И не знаше за њу док не роди Сина свог првенца, и надеде Му име Исус.
