Sunday, March 13th, is Sunday of Orthodoxy, the day we celebrate icons, i.e. the victory over iconoclastic heresy. We invite all children to take part in a procession with icons at the end of the Liturgy.

У недељу, 13. марта, је Недеља Православља, дан када славимо иконе, тј. победу икона против иконоборачке јереси. Позивамо сву децу да на крају Литургије узму учешћа у Литији са иконама у нашој цркви.

Rejoicing today in the triumph of Orthodoxy on this first Sunday of Lent, we joyfully commemorate three events: one event belonging to the past; one event to the present; and one event which still belongs to the future.

"Are you fasting? Show me your fast with your works. Which works? If you see someone who is poor, show him mercy. If you see an enemy, reconcile with him. If you see a friend who is becoming successful, do not be jealous of him! If you see a beautiful woman on the street, pass her by.

In other words, not only should the mouth fast, but the eyes and the legs and the arms and all the other parts of the body should fast as well. Let the hands fast, remaining clean from stealing and greediness. Let the legs fast, avoiding roads which lead to sinful sights. Let the eyes fast by not fixing themselves on beautiful faces and by not observing the beauty of others. You are not eating meat, are you? You should not eat debauchery with your eyes as well. Let your hearing also fast. The fast of hearing is not to accept bad talk against others and sly defamations.

Let the mouth fast from disgraceful and abusive words, because, what gain is there when, on the one hand we avoid eating chicken and fish and, on the other, we chew-up and consume our brothers?"

"Кажеш да постиш. Увери ме у то својим делима. А која су то дела? Ако видиш сиромаха, удели му милостињу. Ако се нађеш са непријатељем својим, измири се са њим. Видиш ли на улици неко лепо лице, одврати свој поглед од њега. Дакле, не само да постиш стомаком, већ и очима и слухом, и рукама и ногама и свим удовима тела. Руке нека посте уздржавајући се од сваке грамзивости и крађе. Ноге нека посте тако што нећи ходити путевима греха. Очи нека посте тако што страсно неће посматрати лепа лица нити у зависти гледати на добра других људи. Кажеш да не једеш месо. Али, чувај се да не гуташ похотљиво очима оно што видиш око себе. Пости и слухом својим не слушајући оговарања и сплетке. Устима и језиком својим пости и уздржавај се од ружних речи и шала. Каква нам је корист ако не једемо месо и рибу, а уједамо и прождиремо своје ближње."

The following day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee, and He found Philip and said to him, “Follow Me.” Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote – Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” And Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!” Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” Nathanael answered and said to Him, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” Jesus answered and said to him, “Because I said to you, ‘I saw you under the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these.” And He said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.”

А сутрадан намисли изићи у Галилеју, и нађе Филипа, и рече му: Хајде за мном. А Филип беше из Витсаиде, из града Андријиног и Петровог. Филип нађе Натанаила, и рече му: За кога Мојсије у закону писа и пророци, нађосмо Га, Исуса сина Јосифова из Назарета. И рече му Натанаило: Из Назарета може ли бити шта добро? Рече му Филип: Дођи и види. А Исус видевши Натанаила где иде к Њему рече за њега: Ево правог Израиљца у коме нема лукавства. Рече Му Натанаило: Како ме познајеш? Одговори Исус и рече му: Пре него те позва Филип видех те кад беше под смоквом. Одговори Натанаило и рече Му: Рави! Ти си Син Божији, Ти си Цар Израиљев. Одговори Исус и рече му: Што ти казах да те видех под смоквом зато верујеш; видећеш више од овог. И рече му: Заиста, заиста вам кажем: Одселе ћете видети небо отворено и анђеле Божије где се пењу и силазе к Сину човечијем.
