Announcements
Attention, Cursillistas!

Please stop by the Administration Building this Sunday, April 23, 9-11 a.m., to sign the St. Bart’s palanca letter for Cursillo Spring Weekend #149, to be held April 27-30 at Pine Valley Bible Conference Center. Or if you have your own palanca, feel free to drop it off during that time. Currently, there are 19 candidates and 42 workers attending, including 5 candidates and 3 Servant Team Members from St. Bart’s!
New Preschool Strategic Vision Team Forming

We need volunteers to join the “Preschool Strategic Vision Team”! This team will meet over the next couple of months to review all aspects of the preschool and develop a comprehensive vision for the future. If you have kids in preschool or experience in preschool education, we would especially welcome your involvement. Contact Senior Warden Costa Dillon to join the team.
Photo Sessions for New 2023 Directory

Save the dates! We are updating the St. Bart’s photo directory and hope to have the new edition published in time for St. Bart’s Day in August. These photos will be very helpful to our new rector in matching names with faces.

We will be taking both posed and candid photos of parishioners and families on the following Sundays. Please plan to be at church on at least one of these days, and dress your best!

May 14: Mother’s Day and our annual visit from the Bishop, with confirmations, receptions and reaffirmations. Mothers will also receive gifts.

May 21: Fr. Bill’s last Sunday (more information to come).

June 11: Appreciation Sunday: Volunteers, ministries, students, teachers, graduates, scholarship winners and students transitioning to Youth Crew will all be recognized. A catered meal will follow the service.

June 18: Father’s Day and our official welcome of the Rev. Nina Bacas as our new rector. Fathers will receive gifts, and a celebration will follow.
Easter Flowers
Gratitude from the Flower Guild

The Flower Guild would like to thank everyone who gave Easter Flower Offerings this year in memory of or in thanksgiving for loved ones. (To see the complete list of donors, click the button below.) Your generosity not only allowed us to beautify the church for Easter services but also gave us enough funds for several more months of flowers. We truly appreciate your help in keeping flowers alive at St. Bart’s.

If you would like to donate during the year for a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion, please note “Flowers” and the occasion on your check to ensure your gift goes to our flower funds. Thank you again.

—Bobbie Davis, Flower Guild Chair

Episcopal Youth Event Fundraiser Apr 30

A fundraiser will be held at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church to help defray expenses for the high schoolers from our diocese (including two St. Bart’s youth and one chaperone) who are going to the Episcopal Youth Event this summer. Chef Tim Nelson will prepare low-and-slow barbecue tri-tip, so tender it will melt in your mouth, served with traditional barbecue fixings. Entertainment will include a photo booth, storytelling from our students and live music by delegation member Nate Lubsen and his band!
Spotlight on Service
ReGen Food
ReGen Meal Sign-Ups

We are in need of ministries and volunteers to provide meals after the Wednesday evening ReGeneration services that take place twice a month. If every ministry and committee signed up for one or two meals a year, all our services would be covered. If you don’t enjoy cooking, you can make a donation to help pay for the food, help set up and serve a meal or clean up afterward. Please contact Colleen Chapin and the Hospitality Committee to let them know how you can contribute toward this opportunity for food and fellowship, which has become a highlight for many of our parishioners.
Send in Your Photos

Do you remember the St. Bart’s monthly newsletter? That newsletter was put on hold so the communications team could focus on (a) improving the weekly newsletter; (b) increasing our social media presence; (c) updating our website to accurately reflect our church’s growing ministries and current, active members, staff and clergy; and (d) updating our archives.

To accomplish these goals, we need pictures and stories from our parishioners. If you are involved with a ministry or attend a church event, please take a second to snap a quick photo and send it to [email protected]; include the date and location, description of the group or event, names of people pictured and any other relevant details. With your help, we can get caught up and get back to sending you monthly newsletters with more in-depth stories about our church!

Parishioner News
Parishioners are invited to send in photos and short announcements about their families that they would like to share with the congregation: graduations, marriages, birth of a child, promotions, transfers, new house, upcoming performances or games that the congregation can attend and support. We all missed years of connecting with one another in person. Here is an opportunity to build back our community and help us learn about each other and share the Good News! Please send photos and stories to [email protected].
Nina visits Goffs
Betsy and David Goff, two of our long-time parishioners, were on a long-awaited family trip and staying with some friends in Arlington, VA. They reached out to say hi to our soon-to-be new rector, Nina Bacas, and let her know they were in town. They didn’t expect that Nina would have time to meet since her son’s wedding was that weekend, but Nina requested they get together for coffee at a café. Betsy and David shared that they had a delightful visit with both Nina and her husband, Andy. They were super friendly, lots of fun, and are so excited to move to San Diego, meet everyone and start ministering to St. Bartians!

Earth, Water, Air, Fire: An Interfaith Service on the Climate Crisis

As the environmental crisis deepens, we must take action to heal the planet where we have wounded it. For persons of faith, that action is rooted in our faith traditions and practices. So we will gather on Saturday, April 29, 5-6 p.m., at the Moreton Bay Fig Tree arbor in Balboa Park for an interfaith, interactive and intergenerational service to connect with the Divine presence and build toward a thriving and diverse future (bring a lawn chair if you wish to sit). Following the service, we host a bring-your-own picnic for community and fellowship. All are invited to attend! For more information, contact Phil Petrie.

This event is sponsored by the Interfaith Coalition for Earth Justice and partner faith communities. Rain date: TBD. Please register here.
