Navy Chaplain Frank Muñoz, our lectors, our brass musicians, and the local Scouts provided a moving liturgy with tremendous respect and honor for the departed who served to protect our freedoms. Adult Forum
St. Bart’s LGBTQ+ Ministry
Sunday, May 31, 9 a.m., MPR
St. Bart’s has a thriving LGBTQ+ Ministry dedicated to carrying our inclusive Christian faith to the community around us. The group takes at face value every service’s dismissal: Let’s Go Be the Qhurch! This Sunday, join our LGBTQ+ parishioners in a live conversation about the underpinnings of their faith and their experiences of living into it.

On the last Sunday of every month, St. Bart’s makes sandwiches to be taken to Interfaith Community Services, one of our Outreach partners. Please join us this Sunday after the 10 a.m. service to assemble meals for those in need!

June Outreach Challenge
Drive for Interfaith Community Services
Our June outreach challenge is a drive for the Interfaith Community Services food pantry, which provides food to individuals/families on an emergency basis. The pantry is most in need of the following items:
- Peanut butter & jelly/jam
- Dry cereal & breakfast bars
- Individually wrapped sweet/savory snacks (e.g., granola bars, fruit snacks, crackers, chips)

Wear Orange Weekend
Support National Gun Violence Awareness
June 6-7
Episcopal churches across the country are participating in Wear Orange Sunday in honor of victims and survivors of gun violence in the United States. Join the St. Bart’s Peace & Justice Ministry’s Gun Violence Prevention working group in wearing orange at our June 6-7 worship services. Let’s take time as a faith community to remember and honor the more than 38,000 Americans killed and 26,000 injured by gun violence last year, and commit to work toward peace and an end to gun violence in our communities.
And stop by the P&J Ministry table on the patio between services on Sunday, June 7, for information on safe storage of firearms, gun safety in the home, and gun violence prevention activities, and to pick up a free gun lock for safe storage of firearms.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:
Feeding San Diego
Sundays, 9:30-10 a.m. & 1:30-4 p.m., MPR
Thanks to the help of all our volunteers, in the first month of our weekly Free Farmers Market, we were able to provide food for more than 50 households in our communities!
This is just the beginning—we need volunteers throughout June and July! Along with the afternoon time slots available previously, new opportunities have been added between the two services, from 9:30 to 10 a.m., to help weigh and store the food until distribution. lf you haven’t volunteered yet, please consider signing up. Absolutely no experience is needed, just a willingness to smile and serve your community. And if you’ve already volunteered, consider signing up again or maybe even leading either the food pickup or the distribution.

FILM SCREENING:
Run, Hide, Fight: Growing Up Under the Gun

Join the Peace & Justice Ministry’s Gun Violence Prevention working group for a screening of Run, Hide, Fight: Growing Up Under the Gun, a 30-minute documentary about how gun violence—the leading cause of death for children and teens in the US—affects young Americans. The film profiles young people who have survived traumatic shootings and are now leading the fight for a safer future. A discussion on gun violence in our communities and how we might address it will follow. Invite your friends to take part in this important conversation! Light refreshments served. INTERFAITH EVENT:
Poway Interfaith Team Connections
Thursday, June 11, 6:30 p.m., Patio
The Poway Interfaith Team (POINT) holds Connections events every other month to build community and understanding between people of all faiths. The next event, “Rooted,” will be on June 11 at St. Bart’s—all are welcome to this outdoor gathering. The event will open with a short grounding walk on the church campus, and then participants will be invited to share one spiritual practice that grounds them. You could share a prayer or meditation, show pictures of your favorite garden or walking trail, or bring an instrument, a journal, a finger labyrinth, or a candle—anything meaningful to your spirit. Summer Pickup Choir!
Sundays, June 14–August 23, 9:15 a.m., Sanctuary
While the Parish Choir is on summer break, we will have a “pickup choir” each Sunday for the 10 a.m. service. All experience and skill levels are welcome—whether you’ve been singing in choirs your whole life or want to give it a try for the first time, you’re invited to participate! We will gather in the sanctuary at 9:15 a.m. each Sunday to learn a quick anthem and rehearse the liturgical music for the service.

May Coffee Hour Hosts

Coffee hour at St. Bart’s is about more than just a kind treat—it’s a way for us to embody our hospitality. This month, if your last name starts with A-E, it’s your turn to host! Bring whatever sweet or savory nibble the Spirit moves you to share (cut into serving-sized pieces, please).
Note: You can borrow a plate or platter from the MPR kitchen so you don’t have to worry about retrieving your own plate later.

Prayers & Squares Quilt Ministry
Prayers & Squares offers prayer quilts to all people who are in crisis and need prayer. Before requesting a quilt, please check with the recipient to see if they will accept a prayer quilt, and ask them for the specific words of prayer they would like prayed over the quilt.

The Learning Treehouse Preschool
The Learning Treehouse Preschool, located on the St. Bart’s campus, offers play-based education for children 18 months to 6 years old, with a maximum of 12 children per classroom. It’s a loving, nurturing environment where children can grow socially, emotionally, and academically, all while having a blast!
