Rector's Advent Letter

Waking Up to Hope

 The Reverend Mother Nina Bacas

Dear St. Bart’s Family,

Scripture repeatedly tells us to wake up and keep alert. What does this mean for us in Advent, a season of waiting, preparation, and repentance? Consider that another definition of repentance is to “go beyond.” And another definition of hope is to stop thinking about what we can (or can’t) do and start trusting in what God can do through us. [...]

2024 Stewardship Update

Thank you for showing your commitment to stewardship by participating in St. Bart’s “Forward in Faith” Giving Weekend. We currently have over $635,239 in pledges, with commitments of support made by 141 households (28 of which are new or returning!).

Please use the link below to watch a one-minute video by Bill Angus, St. Bart’s Treasurer and key member of our church community, about how his own giving began and why it is important that everyone pledge, regardless of the amount.

Blessings and a Happy Thanksgiving from your Stewardship team!

“Finding Jesus in Advent: Spiritual Practices”

An Advent Series with Dr. Elisabeth Koenig

Sundays, 9 a.m.

Advent is the season of Incarnation, during which Christians await the birth of God in Jesus Christ. It is a perfect time to talk about Discernment, because Discernment mirrors Incarnation: Whereas God takes on human flesh in Jesus, Discernment makes the relationship with God concrete and actual through lived human choice and decision-making. Please join us on December 3, 10 and 17 for this Sunday morning series.

Christmas Flower Donations

Christmas Flower Offerings

Please consider making a Christmas flower offering this Advent to remember a special occasion (like a holiday, anniversary or birthday) or to give thanks for friends, family, good health or good fortune. If you would like to be included in the Christmas flower remembrance offering, there will be flower offering envelopes in church during the first three weeks of Advent. Print your name on the front of the envelope, and the name(s) of those you are honoring on the back. Be sure to write “Flowers” on the memo line of your check. The Flower Guild is thankful for your generosity at Christmas and all year long. For more information, contact Bobbie Davis at (858) 775-2624.
