Scripture: Psalm 42:1-5 NRSV
Sermon: Beating the B.L.U.E.S.

Regardless of the difficult situations we may find ourselves in, as Christians we can stand strong in our faith and beat the blues. Negative things happen and we can encounter times when we feel down, but we have all that we need in Christ who strengthens us.
Free COVID Testing at Norcross First UMC
Our church is constantly seeking ways to engage our community, especially during this pandemic.

On September 1 - 3, Norcross First provided free drive through COVID 19 testing at our campus in conjunction with CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort). In three days, we tested 310 people.

We believe this is a unique way to be good citizens as we grow our presence in the community so we will repeat this testing September 22 - 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Please Pray, giving thanks for our first event and asking God to bless this next three days of testing. We ask that you promote this testing to your network of friends and colleagues, and come and get tested yourself. In addition, we need a few volunteers each day. Please email Rae for details.

After wearing a mask and social distancing, the next best thing you can do to prevent the spread of COV!D 19 is to get tested regularly.  NOTE: In the event of a positive test, CORE is very helpful in encouraging and providing assistance as needed for self quarantining.

Together, let’s share the love of Christ and make a difference in our community in battling COVID 19.

All Things New by John Eldrege
6 week study facilitated by Reverend Eddie Bradford
This revolutionary book about our future is based on the simple idea that, according to the Bible, heaven is not our eternal home--the New Earth is. As Jesus says in the gospel of Matthew, the next chapter of our story begins with "the renewal of all things," by which he means the earth we love in all its beauty, our own selves, and the things that make for a rich life: music, art, food, laughter and all that we hold dear. Everything shall be renewed "when the world is made new."

The Book of Amos by Seedbed
8 week study facilitated by Mickey Stanfield
During the eighth century BC, the Northern Kingdom of Israel experienced a period of unprecedented economic growth. But this financial boom wasn’t enough for Israel’s elite. To increase their already robust profits and fund their already upscale lifestyles, they leveraged their powerful positions to exploit their poor neighbors. They often did so under the guise of worship. Their actions violated God’s laws, trampled God’s people, and defamed God’s name.
In this OneBook: Daily-Weekly study, Jason R. Jackson helps readers understand Amos’s challenging words within the context of his world and apply those words to our startlingly similar world.
Circle of Love
You are welcome to join the Circle of Love at our virtual meeting on Monday, September 14 at 10 am on Zoom. We will be discussing plans for the rest of the year and have a time of fellowship and prayer. Please contact Diane Walker to get the zoom ID and password for the meeting.
Scam Warning!
Several people have reported receiving messages from Pastor Eddie requesting a “discreet favor”, money, gift cards or other help for a family member.
PLEASE NOTE: Any email, text message, or social media post from Rev. Bradford or any staff member of Norcross First requesting emergency help, financial help or other assistance, is fraudulent and should not be responded to!
Simply delete these messages without opening or responding to them. If you have a concern or question about this being a legitimate contact, CALL the Church Office at 770-448-4142 for confirmation.
These scam messages are widespread among churches right now. Don't fall prey to an illegitimate request.
