Welcoming Our New Ministry Colleagues

By St. Bart’s Day, we will have a new clergyperson with us, along with a children’s minister! Last Sunday, Father Frank Muñoz joined us as a nonstipendary priest associate. Father Muñoz is a retired Navy chaplain, teacher, and Episcopal priest. You may read his full bio below! He and his wife, Estella, live in Escondido and seek to be a part of our faith community.
Luca Delaney comes to us from Camp Stevens and SDSU Agape House ministry. Luca is a junior at SDSU studying child and family development, and served as a children’s minister at San Carlos UMC. On Sundays, Luca will be serving alongside Ella Crane and all our wonderful children’s ministry volunteers.
We are blessed with these new colleagues at St. Bart’s. This month, please welcome Father Muñoz and Luca!

Monthly Food Drive for St. Bart’s Sunday Distribution
Every month, let’s supplement our Free Farmers Market with common food items that our clients are requesting! We need single-family-sized packages that are easy to distribute. In August, please bring:
- Peanut butter
- Jelly/jam
- Snack bars
- Pasta sauce
- Cooking oil
You can drop off items on Sunday mornings or during church office hours. Thank you for your generous support of our neighbors in need.

Feeding San Diego
Sundays, 9:30-10 a.m. & 1:30-4 p.m., MPR
Thank you to our Sunday morning and afternoon Free Farmers Market volunteers! And thank you so much for all your dry goods donations; they are greatly appreciated. For the last few months, we have served an average of 35 households per week and distributed over 7,000 pounds of food to our neighbors in need.
We need some help on August 23, and there are a few more open volunteer spots in September. Sign up at the link below.

“Space for Grace” with Contemplative Outreach of San Diego County

St. Bart’s Weekend
August 29-30
Our annual weekend of fellowship to celebrate the feast day of our patron saint, Bartholomew, is almost here! Enjoy wine and cheese after the Saturday service on August 29, and/or stay after the 10 a.m. service on August 30 for a barbecue lunch hosted by the Vestry. You're invited to bring a side dish, salad, or fruit to share, and Vestry members will provide desserts.

The Season of Creation Is Coming
The Season of Creation is almost here! During this annual ecumenical celebration, faith communities around the world pray and act together to honor and protect the earth, our common home. The celebration officially begins on September 1, the Day of Prayer for Creation, and ends on October 4, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology beloved by many Christian denominations.
At St. Bart’s, we’ll be commemorating the season with special events/activities throughout September, culminating with the Blessing of the Animals on October 3–4. Click on the button below for more information and to get a sneak peek at the schedule of events!

Poway Rotary Parade
Saturday, September 12, 9 a.m.
The 61st annual Poway Rotary Parade will take place RAIN or SHINE on Saturday, September 12! St. Bart’s parishioners will be walking the parade route, this year alongside our new van! If you would you like to be in the parade and help us spread our church’s “All are welcome, no exceptions” message, contact Mother Nina.

Deep Resonance: Men’s Voices

This concert features a diverse program of sacred and secular music for TTBB choir, showcasing the richness and versatility of the men’s choral tradition. August Coffee Hour Hosts
Last Names Q-Z
Coffee hour at St. Bart’s is about more than just a kind treat—it’s a way for us to embody our hospitality. This month, if your last name starts with Q-Z, it’s your turn to host! Bring whatever sweet or savory nibble the Spirit moves you to share (cut into serving-sized pieces, please).
Note: You can borrow a plate or platter from the MPR kitchen so you don’t have to worry about retrieving your own plate later.

Prayers & Squares Quilt Ministry
Prayers & Squares offers prayer quilts to all people who are in crisis and need prayer. Before requesting a quilt, please check with the recipient to see if they will accept a prayer quilt, and ask them for the specific words of prayer they would like prayed over the quilt.

The Learning Treehouse Preschool
The Learning Treehouse Preschool, located on the St. Bart’s campus, offers play-based education for children 18 months to 6 years old, with a maximum of 12 children per classroom. It’s a loving, nurturing environment where children can grow socially, emotionally, and academically, all while having a blast!
