Calendar Raffle Reminder Gr 5-8
Just a reminder - St. Anthony on the Lake School grades 5-8 will be selling Calendar Raffle tickets for a fundraiser now thru the end of September. If you missed picking up your Calendar Raffles at orientation please pick them up in the school office - this is for 5th-8th grade families only.
This fundraiser allows each middle school student to earn enough money ($1500) to go on the Washington D.C. trip their 8th grade school year. The cost is $20 (per Calendar Raffle) and the purchaser could win $25 - $500 during the course of a year. You will have the opportunity to sell your calendar raffles after Mass in the gathering space
August 24-25, August 31- September 1, September 7-8, or September 21-22. Look for the Sign-up Genius here as we will allow 3 families at a time to sell. If you miss us, PLEASE seek out a 5th-8th grade student, or stop in the school office to buy one.
I can't stress enough the importance of selling your calendar raffles. This is an important fundraiser and we will need 100% participation from everyone. I know people do not like selling to their families all the time, but if you realize this is the only time they'll be asked to buy, maybe it will be received differently.
If you have any further questions please let me know. I can be reached at Cheryl.langman@tdsmetro.com.
Thank you!

From the Desk of Ellen Knippel, Principal

Dear Parents,
Welcome, once again to the new school year! For those of you new to the school, this newsletter comes home every Monday. It is full of important information that you need to know for the week ahead. As always, please don't hesitate to call the office with any questions or concerns! Please be patient with us in the office. MANY things are coming our way as we get settled into the school year.

We are in great need of hot lunch helpers this week.  Your children need you to serve and they LOVE to see you here!  Please see the sign-up below - and thank you!

I look forward to seeing you at one or both of our mandatory parent meetings this week. The logistics of both nights can be found below.

Thanks to all who were able to attend our Back-to-School Picnic yesterday! Special thanks to Susan Goggins and the Marketing Committee for planning this great day! It is always a fun way to begin the year!

School News
Parent and Middle School Student Mtg
August 27th at 6pm
There will be NO volleyball practices during this time. We will have a general school committee meeting and then the middle school meeting. We will be discussing a variety of middle school items so it will be important that you and your child attend (this way everyone gets the same message at one time).

Grades 3K-5th Parent Only Meeting
August 29th at 6pm
Students DO NOT attend this meeting. IF you attended the middle school meeting on the 27th, you will not need to arrive until 6:30pm. We will have the general school committee meeting first and then you will have an opportunity to go into your child's classroom for a presentation by their teacher. We have 3 separate classroom sessions so if you have more than one child, you will be able to visit each room for a session.

Spirit Wear Sale, Now-Sept. 2nd
There will be several school days
throughout the year designated as
"spirit wear days" where
students are given the option to wear spirit wear tops with non-uniform bottoms. If a student chooses not to participate, then they will need to be in uniform.
Spirit wear is available for purchase until 11:59pm on Monday, September 2nd.

Children's Mass Communion Ministers
Julie Goyette is in the process of scheduling parent communion ministers. If you are a parent who attends our Wednesday liturgies with the student body, we would love to have you help us out in this ministry. You do NOT have to be a parish communion minister to do this and we will gladly train you! Please email  Julie .

Students waited patiently for balloons at the Back-to-School Picnic. Thank you School Committee for providing pizza, custard, and the entertainment!

Was the wait worth it? Her smile says it all.

Students also enjoyed playing soccer and football, breaking in the new playground equipment, and of course dancing the chicken dance with the DJ...and a duck.
