Worship on Sunday

The Season of Advent is upon us! We’ll mark this first Sunday of Advent with a joyous celebration of the Hanging of The Greens. As we adorn the sanctuary for the season, we’ll learn about the meaning of many of our Advent decorations and symbols. Invite a friend to join you!

CHURCH OFFICE HOURS

Office hours for the church are:

Wednesdays: 9:30am-2pm

Fridays: 9:30am-2pm

During those hours, the side door (near the kitchen) will be unlocked, and one of the staff will be in the office.

While our minister always welcomes a pop-in visit, to ensure she'll be there and available, it's always a good idea to call ahead or make an appointment by e-mailing her at bethanypastoramy@gmail.com.

HANGING OF THE GREENS

The Advent worship planning team will be preparing for our Hanging of the Greens service this Saturday, and you are invited to help! We’ll be in the sanctuary starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, to get everything ready for our special service on Sunday.

MONTH OF GRATITUDE AND GIVING

Last Sunday we concluded our month of Gratitude and Giving with a sharing of Thanksgiving stories (as in cooking a turkey on the Self Clean oven setting) and in blessing our donations to the Randolph Area Food Shelf. Terry and Jason Gravel took the food to the Food Shelf on Monday and witnessed a long line of people waiting to get their Thanksgiving turkeys and fixings. It was heartwarming to see all the volunteers working there with great joy and compassion as they helped our neighbors find all they needed to celebrate the holiday. Please continue your support through food donations or a check to help the Food Shelf in these difficult times.

BETHANY BAZAAR ON DEC. 6th

We are getting ready for our Bazaar on Dec. 6 and can use your help. We will have sign up sheets in the Fellowship Hall or you can email bethanyucc@gmail.com to let us know how you can help.

- Sign up to bring cookies for the Cookie Walk

- Sign up to bring something for the Baked Goods table

- Sign up to help with set up for the Bazaar on Friday, Dec. 5

This year we are having a White Elephant Table featuring Christmas decorations and crafts. This is a great time to go through the holiday items you no longer use. Also, we are asking for nice "re-gift" items that we can price and sell. Please bring in those items Nov. 30- Dec. 4.

Send an email to Bethany Church or touch base with Terry Burgee if you have any questions or suggestions! Thanks!

ADVENT DEVOTIONALS ARE HERE!

The UCC's Advent devotionals are in! This year's theme is "Soon & Very Soon," which is the title of one of my favorite hymns. It's an upbeat approach to waiting and anticipating the glorious life God has for us. The devotionals are available for $5 in the church office.

Pastor Amy will lead a weekly devotional study/conversation during the season of Advent, starting in December. There will be two sections: A Wednesday evening Zoom at 6:30 p.m. and a Friday morning 10:30am in-person discussion at the church. Please e-mail her at bethanypastoramy@gmail.com for the Zoom link, or look for it in next week's Blast!

WORSHIP AT MENIG 11/30 at 3PM

This Sunday is Bethany's turn to provide worship services at Menig Nursing Home. Join Jeanne and Vivian as they provide prayers and songs for the residents.

KEEP YOUR PRAYER LIST VISIBLE

Here is a way to keep the folks who are on our prayer list in our hearts and minds: Cut the list out from the bulletin or write the names down on a piece of paper and post the list somewhere you will see it each day. Take a moment to think of or say a prayer for those on the list. Think of the cloud of prayers that will surround each recipient if we all do that!

IN OUR PRAYERS

Hannah McMeekin who has had surgery for a ruptured appendix

Ann Aiken's friend Lee dealing with breast cancer surgery

Susannah's friend Kathy dealing with health issues

Kit, in recovery from surgery

Jennifer H. asks for prayers for her children dealing with challenges

All those dealing with the loss of loved ones

We continue to pray for David Atkinson, Dawn Chittenden, Rick Edwards, Marty Strange, Ralph Ward, and our friends at Menig: Ruth, Grace, Marge, Ed, Mary and Nancy.
