District Shares Guidance on Coronavirus Preparedness
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released information for schools about coronavirus prevention. We have reviewed these federal guidelines as well as the Ohio Department of Health's recommendations regarding coronavirus in schools.

Health officials currently recommend a series of common-sense protections for our students, staff and community:
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Stay at home if you are sick and keep children at home if they are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, and throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
While the threat of the coronavirus impacting American schools remains unknown, we continue to work with government and health care agencies to develop coronavirus response plans.

We will continue to update you on our efforts as well as developments involving this health concern.

Stay in the Know - Please be sure that your most up to date contact information is in your PowerSchool parent portal under Alerts.

Thank you.

Reminder: No School for Students on Friday, March 13
There is no school for students on Friday, March 13. This is a work day for teachers. Have a great long weekend!
Great things happening at the MS & HS!
#FoundSomethingCool

The 9th and 10th graders had a blast visiting the Rock Hall on Tuesday 3/3. They got to explore the museum and participate in a program about how music has been used for social change during the 1960s and 1970s.

Hailey W. will be our Buckeye Girls State Representative! BGS is a week-long government focused program at Mount Union. The American Legion Post #421 has generously provided a scholarship to cover the cost of attendance. Congratulations, Hailey!

The FHS Symphonic Band performed at OMEA Large Group Adjudicated event on Saturday, March 7th at Olmsted Fall High School Auditorium. This is a competition where the band will be critiqued and given a rating for their performance. Great job to all student musicians!
Book eFair for new School Library
In order to acquire some NEW books for the school library, a book efair (online) is scheduled to allow parents, students and staff to purchase a new book for the new space.

A list of recommended middle school and high school titles for purchase has been created here  .  Please note that there are two tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet, one for MS and one for HS.  While all books are appreciated, hardcover books are preferred. The lists have suggestions that are NOT currently part of the collection.  An * before a title means the book is on one of the middle school ELA recommended reading lists. These are also greatly appreciated. Please put an "X" in the first column next to a book that you purchase so that others will know that book has been purchased.

Here are the directions:

Dates:  March 6-23, 2020
Go online: Link to Bookfair
Search the site for recommended titles.
Select a book or 2 to purchase for the school library.
Pay online.
The books will be sent to the school at the completion of the book efair.

Your student will be allowed to check out the ordered book first, if he/she desires, as a list of purchasers will accompany the shipment.

You may also purchase additional books for your own use.  Profits from these will allow for additional library purchases.  Please send an email to gdill@fairview.k12.oh.us stating which books from your order are for your own use and not for the library.  These will be delivered to the students at school.

Thank you in advance for supporting the REOPENING FHS/MMS Library.

Spring Play
Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother's protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat. Along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out that being different is not a bad thing to be.

Warriors of the Week

Bodhi J - 6th Grade
This week's 6th grade Warrior of the Week is Bodhi J. (aka the Professor). Each day, Bodhi comes to class ready to work and ready to learn but still manages to have some fun along the way. Whether it's leading a small group discussion with his friends in math or co-leading a class discussion with Mrs. Conner (yes, he has done this!) Bodhi makes Lewis Mayer a fun place to be for his friends and teachers too. He helps his friends aspire to be better and does it with a smile.  Way to go Bodhi!

Olivia B. - 7th Grade
Olivia B. is the 7th grade Warrior of the Week! She stands out among her peers for her friendly personality and positive attitude. She is always willing to lend a hand and works well with others. Olivia's teachers appreciate her contributions to class; she is a hard worker who perseveres and goes above and beyond to reach her goals. She is a valued member of the 7th grade- keep up the great work, Olivia!

Izzy K. - 8th Grade
Izzy K. has been a role model to her peers since day one. She is very diligent when it comes to completing her work and will not hesitate to help her peers. Not only is Izzy an excellent student, she is also an excellent teammate on the field and in the classroom. She makes sure that her teammates stay up to date on their assignments and helps when needed.  Izzy is the definition of "student-athlete". We love having her as part of the 8th grade and feel she is very deserving of the title Warrior of the Week.
