We were proud to cut the ribbon and celebrate the 90th Anniversary of Genisys Credit Union!
Founded in Michigan in 1936, Genisys Credit Union has grown from its roots serving local automotive employees into a credit union serving communities across Michigan and beyond.
Here in the Orion area, Genisys Credit Union has been an incredible partner to the Orion Area Chamber of Commerce and our entire business community. Theresa Doan, Director of Social Responsibility, has served on the Orion Area Chamber Board of Directors for the past 5½ years, and is currently the Chair of the Board.
Genisys Credit Union continues to show up, get involved, support local initiatives, and invest in the people and organizations that make our local community stronger.

Education. Awareness. Connection. Community. That’s what our Leading Edge Educational Workshops are all about.
Learning skills that can make a difference—and potentially save a life. In recognition of Suicide Awareness Month, the Orion Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a special Leading Edge Educational Workshop featuring QPR—Question, Persuade, Refer, an evidence-based suicide prevention Gatekeeper program.
Presented by Tonya Hamilton and Kimberly Urbanowski of the North Oakland Community Coalition, the workshop helped participants learn how to recognize warning signs of someone in distress, offer hope, encourage individuals to seek help, and connect them with appropriate professional resources.
We are proud of our participants who completed the training and earned their QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Certificates. Congratulations to al!!

What a great afternoon of connection, collaboration—and a little friendly competition! Chamber professionals from across Oakland County came together for a Michigan Association of Chamber Professionals of (MACP) luncheon meeting and Pickleball Challenge at Greystone Pickleball, hosted by the Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce.
We enjoyed a beautiful luncheon, learned the basics of pickleball, and put our new skills to the test with some friendly competition among colleagues!
But the best part of the afternoon was the opportunity to connect with fellow chamber leaders, exchange ideas, share experiences, and talk about the opportunities and challenges facing our individual chambers and the communities we serve.
There is tremendous value in bringing regional chamber leaders together to learn from one another, strengthen relationships, and support the continued growth and success of our business communities.
Thank you to the Auburn Hills Chamber for hosting such a fun and meaningful afternoon—and to our fellow chamber professionals for the great conversation, camaraderie, and a few good laughs on the pickleball court!

| | | | Michigan is preparing to launch the new Youth Employment Permit Portal (YEPP), a centralized online system that will modernize the state’s youth employment permit process. Beginning Oct. 2, 2026, employers and minors will use YEPP to complete the youth employment permit process through one statewide system. Local school districts and nonpublic schools will no longer issue youth employment permits. The new system will allow minors and employers to complete the permit process online. To help schools and families prepare for the transition, the Michigan Department of Labor will host a Youth Employment Permit Portal webinar on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 2–3:30 p.m. featuring State Rep. Phil Skaggs, LEO leaders and representatives from the company that developed YEPP, who will provide an overview of the new system, discuss the transition and answer questions about the updated youth employment permit process. LOHS has shared this information with their parents, guardians and students through our newsletter, social media and available online platforms. | | This is a major overhaul to how local businesses interact with our students and schools. I wanted to share this information with you to pass along to the local chamber and any other business resource. I have attached the flyer I created for LOHS. I am not sure how much information on the new process has been shared with businesses from the state.
