Public Works Update
  • Leaf collection (Central area) – this service has been completed. The regular schedule for the service called for a third round collection in the week starting after the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday on January 20 but multiple winter weather events and the required response delayed the scheduled completion. The next scheduled service is the Spring Leaf Collection to begin in the Central area on Monday, March 2 for a single round across University City’s service area for this work. If our residents have any specific questions about this service, please contact the department office.

  • A regular Stormwater Task Force Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 4, at 6:30 p.m. at the Heman Park Community Center. The discussion on the agenda is about roles for implementation of any recommendations from the Task Force’s report to City Council delivered in a Study Session on January 27.

  • The department’s contractors Pride Master, Inc./Westfall Contracting will be working on sidewalk-curb replacement and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements in the 8300-8400-8500 blocks of Richard Ave., 1300 block of Mendell Dr. at the Canton Ave. intersection, and 1500 block of 79th Street, weather-permitting. If our residents have any specific questions about the work, please contact the department office.

  • A City Space Needs Analysis is underway. University City’s consultant Trivers is in the process of scheduling programming meetings with the City’s departments currently utilizing the spaces in the scope of the study. Survey data collection work is planned to continue with an employee survey and public survey in this project, which will be announced by the department before disseminated.
