December 10, 2018
From the Desk of Ellen Knippel, Principal

Dear Parents,
Happy Second Week of Advent. The fifth graders led us in the lighting of our Advent wreath this morning. Last week, we delivered an SUV full of gifts for the Women's Center of Waukesha County (thanks Tracy Tarwacki for delivering)! Thanks to everyone for your generosity! Between the Food Baskets in November, Middle School "Movember," and the Women's Center collection, our students are truly Living the Covenant! Thank you for helping us teach your children by your example!

The students are gearing up for our Annual Christmas Concert! This year's Concert will take place on Tuesday, December 18th at 6:30pm in Church. All students (grades 3K - 8) will participate along with our SAL Band! This is always a special evening for our students! Please see the important information at the bottom of today's newsletter regarding call time, dress etc.

Advent Blessings!
Mrs. Ellen Knippel

Extended Day Care Rule
We must know when your children will be using EDC the week before we set the schedule so that we can be sure to have enough help available to supervise. Lately we've been getting many, many last minute requests which are making it difficult for us to staff correctly. We understand the occasional emergency - got called into a meeting, flat tire, etc. - and those exceptions will be accepted. Thanks in advance for your cooperation! Your children's best interest is at heart!

Classroom Corner
6th and 8th grade girls set up this year's Giving Tree in the Gathering Space.

Students gathered around the Advent wreath for the lighting of the first candle.

Fifth grade collaborated to measure two different objects (regular shaped and irregular shaped) in as many ways as possible with tools. The tools used were a triple beam balance, metric ruler, and graduated cylinder to investigate volume, mass, and length.

St. Nick left a little something for the kids.
Prayers, Celebrations, & Gratitude
Prayers
The Advent theme of waiting confronts us in every aspect of life. Have mercy on our cluttered, too busy and hurried selves. Teach us to be patient in our relationships with others. Allow us to be present for those around us and mindful of what truly matters.

Thank You!

Thank you for all of these wonderful Women's Center donations!

More Thanks!
"Movember" is a men's health movement during November which raises money and awareness for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health/suicide prevention in men. Our middle school students raised money through the whole month which totaled almost $1,000.00!  Everyone did an incredible job and we are very proud of all who donated to a fantastic cause.
