Strategic Plan Update

By Dr. Martin Kilbridge

If you don’t know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else.” - Yogi Berra

Holy Names is seeing tremendous growth. After an admissions cycle that saw a 13% enrollment increase this year, we are on target to see another year of double digit growth. Managing our growth and preparing for the future make our strategic planning initiative all the more important. We need to look to a future that preserves what makes Holy Names special.

Your input last fall, whether through the survey or in focus groups, set the broad outlines of our Strategic Plan 2025-2030. The core of the plan was adopted by the Board of Trustees in early February.

Holy Names Bucks Trend of Declining Enrollment in Private Schools

"Martin Kilbridge sees single-sex education as both a successful way to teach students and as a selling point to families.

Kilbridge has been in private education for close to 30 years as a teacher, principal and now as president of Academy of the Holy Names in Albany.

The school, now in its 140th year, faces the same financial and demographic pressures other private schools in the region do...

...Holy Names has bucked the trends in recent years that have forced other schools to merge, reorganize or even close.

Enrollment is up, and Dr. Kilbridge says the metrics look even better for the next school year."

Holy Names Education Offers Perfect Prescription for Tackes

Going straight from high school to pharmacy school can be a bit jarring, but not for Dr. Courtney Caimano Tackes ’09. She says she was well-prepared thanks to her Holy Names education.

“Many students struggle academically when they first start this program, but I had already taken rigorous classes at AHN and developed great study skills that I was able to use from the start of pharmacy school. I was able to become involved in extracurriculars on campus much sooner because of this, which helped develop my interpersonal skills and become a well-rounded student.”

High School School Pep Rally

It may only be spring, but it was definitely a summer feel in the gym for the high school's spring pep rally.

This year's theme was "Under the Sea" with classes dressing as pirates, mermaids, sea creatures, sailors, and "beach party."

As is tradition, the seniors took home bragging rights from the afternoon competitions.
