Moran to be Published in College Magazine
Congratulations to senior Emma Moran for receiving runner-up for her piece, “Last Goodbyes” in the University at Albany's UHS Creative Writing contest. Her piece, selected from within the UHS Topics in Literature course, will be featured in UAlbany's ARCH literary magazine and on the UHS News Section of its website.

"Upon this Rock I Will Build My Church"
At a special Lenten prayer service on Friday, students, faculty, and staff each received a rock representing their sins. After returning from Easter break, the rocks will be painted and placed outside the entryway as a symbol of the resurrection of Jesus and his forgiveness.

Mother-Daughter Brunch One for the Books
Thank you to AHN's Parent Association and all who made this year's Petals and Pearls-themed Mother-Daughter Brunch such a success!
Upwards of 300 attended, and the 50/50 raffle from the baskets netted nearly $2800! Bingo was played, door prizes were received, special recognition was given to the 8th and 12th grades, and seniors played a tribute video for their mothers.

Middle School Pep Rally Celebrates Holidays
It was a holiday-themed Pep Rally for the Middle School on Friday. While it was all fun and games for the 4th of July and Valentine's Day, it was St. Patrick's Day (Grade 6) which took home the coveted Spirit Stick this year for best school spirit and class participation!

Assembly Educates about Youth Marijuana Use
Student leaders of SADD and L.O.V.E. Clubs presented an assembly “The Dangerous Truth About Today’s Marijuana: the Harms of Youth Marijuana Use,” which AHN licensed through a partnership with the nonprofit, Johnny's Ambassadors Youth THC Prevention.

Case Closed: Mock Trial Team Wraps Up Season
Congratulations to the Mock Trial team on a great season, which, under Mr. Franzini's leadership, culminated in semifinals competition at the Albany Supreme Court House.
Once again, a special thank you goes out to Support Magistrate Jennifer Corona '88 (mother of Meara Sweet '26) and the Honorable Ryan McAllister (father of Maggie '28) who served as team coaches, as well as Ms. Schwartz who provided assistance to the team.

Pierce v. Society of Sisters is celebrating its centenary and you can thank the ruling and the Sisters for the right of parents to send their children to independent schools and for establishing a precedent that has secured many of our civil rights.

This Week in Athletics
Congratulations to the varsity and JV lacrosse teams for notching their first wins of the season after topping Albany and Greenwich, respectively. JV heads to LaSalle Friday.
JV Softball came up just a run shy versus Mohonasen. Outdoor Track kicked off its season as well and saw multiple personal records set.

Come to AHN for a Night at the Opera on Saturday, April 26 at 7 p.m.!
Join Cohoes High School alumni, Shaunna Siver, soprano, Jared Vigue, tenor and pianist, and John Benware, as they perform some of opera's most charming duets. The program will feature duets and arias from Puccini's La Boheme and Verdi's La Traviata.
Shaunna and Jared will perform selections from the musical The Secret Garden and the operetta The Pirates of Penzance, featuring local students, including AHN's own 9th-grader Maggie McAllister and incoming 6th grader Vivienne Ciccone!
The event will be narrated by Vincent Francesconi.
Tickets will be available online or at the door.

It is our pleasure to announce plans for a Spring 2026 trip to Japan for any current AHN high school students.
We’ll be traveling to Tokyo, Mount Fuji, Kyoto, and Nara during Spring Break, April 2 – April 10 with the American Council for International Studies (ACIS).
This is our first trip to Japan and we are very excited to travel to this modern, traditional, and exquisite country!

Cadet Morgan Lawler '23 (from Knox in the 46th District) was recognized by Senator Patricia A. Fahy as part of West Point Day.
This summer, she'll attend Cadet Field, Air Assault, and Airbone training at West Point Military Academy.

Patricia Erickson '11
Congratulations to Patricia, who received her PhD in May 2024 from the University of Maryland, Baltimore and conducted her dissertation research at the National Cancer Institute. She has started a Post-doctoral research associate position at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, studying colorectal cancer.

Entrance/Academic Scholarship Exam
More admissions testing opportunities have been made available for prospective students. Our next exam is scheduled for Saturday, April 5.
The exam serves as a scholarship qualifying exam and assists with student placement. High scoring students can earn between 15-25% tuition awards.
