Letter from Dr. Martin Kilbridge

Dear Holy Names Community,

I am writing to share that Academy of the Holy Names will soon begin its Re-accreditation process with the Middle States Association (MSA). This important work, which takes place every seven years, provides us with an opportunity for deep reflection, growth, and future planning as a school community.

MSA is a globally recognized accrediting organization that provides a framework for schools to meet rigorous standards of excellence.

Surveys to be Administered to Students

Anonymous Survey to be Issued Monday

As part of our effort to ensure the highest quality experience for our students, we will be administering our annual Student Experience Survey to students in school on Monday, April 20. The survey is anonymous and will take about 15 minutes to complete.

This Week at AHN

Sweethearts and Heroes Returns

Pat Fish from Sweethearts and Heroes returned to campus to work with student leaders looking to facilitate positive change in AHN's culture.

A follow-up to an assembly from earlier in the year, the training to empower students, called “Circle Weavers,” guides group discussions that foster empathy, develop essential human skills, encourage perspective-taking, and create supportive peer networks.

CBA College Fair

On Tuesday, our Grade 11 students attended a college fair at Christian Brothers Academy. They had the opportunity to speak with representatives from more than 70 colleges and universities.

Service Fair

On Thursday, the senior class presented results of their service projects to grades 9-11.

Service is a requirement for all high school students and the focus stems from the charism of the Sisters of the Holy Names.

Easter Break in Japan

Led by Mrs. Travers and Mr. Licari, our spring breakers fell in love with the sweet and gracious people along with the sights and sounds of Japan.

The group took the aerial tram to gaze upon the spectacular Mount Fuji. Our intrepid travelers also visited the Meiji Temple, explored the digital art museum TeamLab Planets, and shopped in the colorful and trendy Harajuku neighborhood.

Art Show Debut

You can support our Library Learning Commons Coordinator, Mrs. Rauch, starting this afternoon at 4 as her art exhibit opens at the Guggenheim Gallery in Hilltown Commons in Rensselaerville.

The exhibit, which promotes sustainability through the re-use of materials, features collages, found materials, handmade books and more. Supported by a grant from the Puffin Foundation, the exhibit runs through Friday, May 8.

Panthers Updates

Track Team Named Scholar Athletes

Congratulations to our indoor track and field team for receiving the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete Team Award!

Congratulations also to Allie '28, who represented AHN at the NYSPHSAA Student Leadership Conference Thursday alongside other student athletes from Section 2 schools.

In other news, Mother Nature may have made Tuesday's varsity lacrosse matchup versus Ichabod Crane a rain-shortened contest, but it was good enough for the team to notch its first win of the season, 17-9.

Giving Tuesday Update

Things are looking bright in the gym!

As part of the Gymnasium Renovation project supported by funding raised on Giving Tuesday, Phase 1 was completed during spring break.

A big “thank you” to Matthew Crudo P ‘30, of CG Construction and Patrick Carney P’20 ‘28 of Capital Painting Contractors Inc. for donating their services toward the re-painting of the gym. We are grateful for their support! The remaining updates will take place during the summer.
