This Week at AHN

Partners in Education Breakfast

"Thank you" doesn't seem like enough to say to our devoted supporters of the Partners in Education program, as our gratitude is beyond measure.

The program supports qualified students who without financial assistance would not be able to attend Holy Names.

On Wednesday, many of our participating partners were able to enjoy breakfast with the students whose futures they've helped provide hope and promise.

Barbie Takes the Plunge

What do Barbie and math have in common? We're so glad you asked!

This week in Mr. Zaccardo's class, students learned about linear regression and the "line of best fit."

So, naturally, the best way to measure this was with rubber bands and Barbie dolls, sending them "bungee jumping." Students were given height measurements and had to calculate how many rubber bands it would take so Barbie would come within two inches of the floor.

Grade 8 Visits the Great Outdoors

Greetings from Outdoor Classroom in Massachusetts.

Led by Ms. Moran and Ms. Witherspoon, our grade 8 class is participating in an overnight program to learn priceless leadership, social, and critical thinking skills from outstanding educators. They’ll also learn about and among nature in a hands-on setting, all while practicing teamwork and collaboration.

AHN's Got Talent!

Thank you to all who participated and attended AHN's Variety Show Friday evening at the Campus Arts Center. There was a little something for everyone, with performances from parents, students, and even a little karaoke thrown in just for fun. A great time was had by all!

Great AHN Bake-Off

Congratulations to the top 3 finishers in our inaugural Great AHN Bake-Off!

Our secret panel of student judges (and Mr. Franzini, of course), selected the winners based on a variety of factors, from taste and texture to presentation and creativity.

  • 1st Place: Mrs. Ladouceur's mocha macrons
  • 2nd Place: Ms. Witherspoon's raspberry almond bars
  • 3rd Place: Ms. Naughter's "To Die For" chocolate cake

Thanks to all who participated. It was a great day for snacking!

Mother-Daughter Brunch

We love our AHN moms!

Thanks to Creative Producer Kyle McCue for putting this video together, and for AHN's Parent Association for organizing this year's Mother-Daughter Brunch!

Art Show Debut

Thanks to all who came to support our Library Learning Commons Coordinator, Mrs. Rauch at her art exhibit opening at the Guggenheim Gallery in Hilltown Commons in Rensselaerville.

The exhibit, which promotes sustainability through the re-use of materials, features collages, found materials, handmade books and more. Supported by a grant from the Puffin Foundation, the exhibit runs through Friday, May 8.

Navigating Pre-Adolescence and the Teen Years

Webinar Featuring Dr. Jennifer Smitkin

Click the video to watch a Parent Partnership Presentation on Supporting Mental Health at Home.

The webinar features Dr. Jennifer Smitkin, Clinical Director of Psychology Wellness Practice, PLLC, as well as a NYS Licensed Psychologist and NYS Certified School Psychologist. The presentation focuses on how foundational habits like sleep, nutrition, screen use, free time, and relationships, impact mental health for girls, and provides parents with practical communication tools to support open dialogue and emotional connection at home.
