Spring Gala: Thank you!

Photos Courtesy Joe Putrock. Click HERE to view full album. Were you SEEN in the Albany Times Union?

Thank you to all who supported our SOLD OUT Spring Gala on Friday, March 28 at the Glen Sanders Mansion. Current parents, past parents, students, Board of Trustee members, friends and AHN Alumnae spanning SEVEN decades were in attendance!

We had a wonderful time celebrating Academy of the Holy Names, as well as honoring Jack and Joanne Maloy P '03 '13 with the John Henry Farrell Building the Future Award, and Graypoint with the Sr. Constance Casey '59 SNJM Foundress Leadership and Community Service Award.

We also set a Holy Names record, raising more than $250,000 to support the needs of our students and our school.

It was heartwarming to see so many members of our community at the Gala and we appreciate those who supported the event from afar. It’s because of all of you the long legacy of Holy Names continues, and it is through your generosity and dedication that our young women are able to envision their own versions of success and live lives of passion and purpose.

The Diamond (Writing Center) Peers of The Mayfair Writer’s Hall (AHN Writing Center) announced this week the winners of their “Spring into Writing” Writing Contest. Open to both middle and high school, students were invited to submit a creative prose or poetry piece of 500 words or less inspired by the prompt, “On the first day of spring….”

The middle-school winner is Bailey Chen with her poem, “First Day of Spring”; and the high-school winner is Gioia Zuppa with her poem, “The Awakening of a Familiar Face.” Each winner received a First Place certificate and a floral white diamond pendant.

Mahalo, Cindy!

Congratulations to Cindy Haselsteiner Pettit ‘78 who was honored at this year’s “A Winter’s Night Out in Hawaii” Gala for St. Pius X School for being a pillar of the school and parish community. All proceeds from the event went to the Parish Hall Revitalization Project.

Journey Retreat

Six sophomores and juniors spent the weekend working on their spirituality and their relationship with God. Led by Ms. Moran and guided by Fr. Bob Longobucco as well as other adult spiritual directors, the students participated in a peer-led “Journey Retreat” at the Dominican Retreat House in Niskayuna.
