McDermott Returns to Holy Names in New Role

Katie Ann McDermott '98, whom many of you will recognize as the delightfully energetic emcee of our Spring Gala, is returning to Academy of the Holy Names in a new role as Director of Alumnae Engagement.

"I'm thrilled to be back where it all started for me, and am looking forward to the chance to connect with my fellow alumnae," Katie Ann says. "We've got a lot of fun projects in store!"

Katie Ann, a graduate of Russell Sage College, also attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts and received her MA from New York University. Most recently she served as Gifting and Volunteer Program Lead at Kobre & Kim, LLP. In her new role, Katie Ann will be engaging with AHN's alumnae community to build good will, encourage participation in events, as well as annual and long term giving of time, talent and/or treasure to AHN.

With Katie Ann's arrival, Liz McGarry P '29 will now be taking on the important role of Director of 1884 Fund Giving and Events.

Summer Camps Provide Plenty of Action for Students

From zip lining and riding the rails to parasailing and rafting, there was a little something for everyone at this year's Adventure Camp, which spanned three separate weeks and brought some new faces to the Holy Names campus.

On the athletics side, Coach Fiore hosted her tennis clinic, and Coach Gigliello hosted his annual basketball clinic.

Next week marks the start of Arts Camp, complete with art, music, and theater instruction.

First Look: New AHN Dance Studio

This fall, Dance is coming to Holy Names!

More than a dozen students have signed up for instruction so far, under the tutelage of our dual-threat School Counselor/Dance Teacher Claire Jacob-Zysman. The studio, which is currently under construction, will be housed in the third floor of the Campus Arts Center.

This year's Spring Gala paddle raise focused on the completion of the Learning Commons in the library, which will be a reimagined space that acknowledges the ways in which our 21st century students study, collaborate, relax, and advance their learning experience at Holy Names.

Gifts from ALLINforAHN will expand and upgrade our cardio and

strength training capacity and expand access to fitness opportunities for all students.

A rarely-used storage space is currently being converted into a multi-level strength training room.

Thanks to a generous donation from retiring Board of Trustees member Jack Maloy, P '03, '13, we extended the breezeway sidewalk in the front of the building, creating a safer approach for students and faculty to enter the building during drop-off and pickup times.

Attention: families: AHN is looking for volunteers interested in monitoring the Learning Commons during the morning hours. Volunteer coverage is needed from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. and/or 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. If you are interested in helping, please contact Principal Taranto. Some online training will be required.
