Course Selection and Re-Enrollment Coming Soon
stack_of_books.jpg
Parents and guardians,

We are beginning to plan for next year’s courses. After our February Recess (February 20-24) you will receive a detailed communication regarding the Course Selection and Re-enrollment Processes. We are excited to be offering more courses for your daughters to explore. The revised Curriculum Guide will be shared separately with your daughters.

In that same late February communication, we will be announcing a continuous enrollment process that will simplify your life and eliminate the need to annually re-enroll. This happy development comes on the heels of our December tuition restructuring announcement. A Holy Names education is now attainable for more families - and for our returning families, your tuition contribution will either be going down or remain the same for next year. Furthermore, returning families need not resubmit financial aid applications this year if your circumstances have not changed.
Dean of Student Life: Students "Figuring it Out"
Kathy Witherspoon, Dean of Student Life, offers perspective on student growth during time at AHN.
“Figuring it out.” Ask anyone and they will tell you that it’s one of my key phrases.

All of us are working to figure things out, but teenagers and pre-teens especially. Our middle school students, who come to us as 10-or 11- year-olds, are figuring out what kind of teenagers they want to be.

National School Counseling Week
It's National School Counseling Week, and we'd like to take a moment to acknowledge our very own Linda Carothers.

This year's #NSCW23 theme is "Helping Students Dream Big." It's been a dream having Linda here, and we appreciate everything she does for our students.
Thank You for Being All in!
Thank you students, alumnae, parents, faculty, and friends for being #ALLINFORAHN in a big way. With your support, we reached our goal of raising $50,000 in one day to support our Annual Fund.

Congratulations go out to the senior class which became the first to reach 100% #ALLINFORAHN participation! AHN also proudly had 100% faculty and staff participation as well. Nicely done!
Service Project Raises Breast Cancer Awareness
For her senior service project, Morgan Hannafin created the "Pink Panther Podcast" to raise awareness of breast cancer.

This week's guest was Sheila Hogarty Mendleson '83, a breast cancer survivor. Sheila is responsible for Business Development and Collaborations at Pretty Rugged. The blanket manufacturer was recently featured on ABC's Shark Tank.
Towel and Washcloth Drive
The Junior Ladies of Charity will be holding a towel drive for the St. Paul’s Center. Boxes will be placed throughout the school for donations of clean towels and washcloths.

The drive will be held from February 13 through March 3.
Catholic Schools Week Tournament Wraps Up
A big thank you to Athletics Director Teagan Waddingham, Coach Steve Gigliello, parent Sean Bellinger, the Booster Club, Director of Enrollment Management Wendy Diefendorf, and all who made our Girls’ Youth Basketball Tournament possible.

Also, a shoutout to the coaches, players, and referees of the 7th/8th grade and 5th/6th grade matchups.
Panthers Roundup
Congratulations to Anna Wasula for her 1st place finish in the Shot Put at the Division 3 Sectional Championships over the weekend.
LOOKING AHEAD: The 14-6 Varsity basketball squad finds out its playoff seeding next week.

Also, spring sports, including lacrosse, softball, and track begin March 13. Interested students should sign up outside Coach Waddingham's office.
Siena College Hosts Seniors
It was a beautiful day for a senior retreat on Wednesday at Siena College, and a visit to the grotto with chaplain Fr. Lawrence Anderson, OFM. Thank you for providing our students and theology department with a day of team-building, and education through faith. Go Saints!
Grades 9 and 10 College
Information Night
Annemarie McGarry, AHN's Director of College Counseling, hosted a Grade 9 and 10 College Information Night for parents and students.

Joining her was Jim Eaton, Associate Admissions Director at Siena College. Parents and their girls learned about the college admissions process and how Holy Names supports families at different stages in the process.

AHN's college counseling program is one of the hallmarks of the school, providing students and their families with a dedicated college counselor with years of college admissions experience on “both sides of the desk.” As students progress through their high school years, they receive increasingly intensive large group, small group, and individualized attention so that they confidently know their college decision is the right one for them.
