Ella Schoenborn Receives National Award for Selfless Service
There are 1.7 million Catholic school students in the country. Only 11 have been awarded this year’s prestigious Youth Virtues, Valor, and Vision Award from the National Catholic Educational Association (Official) (NCEA). Thank you, Ella Schoenborn, for your selfless service, determination, innovation, and ideals that are changing the world, one sandwich at a time. Ella will be featured as part of "Positively Upstate" on WRGB (CBS6) on Wednesday, February 8 at 6 p.m. Follow the links for more information on her story, including some local news coverage.
Catholic Schools Week Liturgy
Filled with Praise
A special thanks goes out to Father Patrick Butler for presiding over a jam-packed #CatholicSchoolsWeek liturgy Monday afternoon, which saw: the commissioning of two new student Eucharistic Ministers (congratulations to Claudia Consiglio and Margaret Seymour), the induction of the Junior Ladies of Charity, and a special tribute to Dr. Phyllis Morrison recognizing her years of dedicated service to Holy Names.
Goals for My Middle School Students
Mrs. Margaret Taranto, AHN’s Middle School Coordinator, shares her goals for students in our growing middle school program.
I believe in the value and importance of single-gender education for young women. Particularly in times when they may be bombarded with negative messaging, I want to give our students the tools to question and combat those messages.

When they graduate from eighth grade, my goal is for them to know they are uniquely gifted, strong, and valuable individuals, and to realize their intrinsic value comes from their accomplishments – not others’ opinions. Read more here.
Middle Schoolers Give Thanks
As part of a project for Catholic Schools Week, Mrs. Eller’s middle school classes wrote why they are thankful for AHN. Here it’s all about faith, family, friends…and cafeteria cookies.
