This Week at AHN

Sophomore Day

Congratulations to the Class of 2027, which celebrated Sophomore Day on Monday.

A special ceremony was held which included the traditional distribution of pendants (and chocolates), an address from Class President Julia Viglucci, remarks from Principal Taranto, and a blessing from Ms. Witherspoon. The ceremony was followed by a retreat in the Campus Arts Center.

Seniors Recognized for Volunteer Drive

Accompanied by Ms. Witherspoon, seniors Logan Schlegel and Patsy Whalen were invited to attend a volunteer recognition event held by St. Catherine's Center for Children.

As part of their senior service project, the two, along with Maggie McDonnell, collected approximately 184 toys to donate to the Center at Christmas.

Cards for Seniors

During Religion classes, students in the middle school made Valentines Day cards for area nursing homes as a service project during Catholic Schools Week.

Grade 8 Fundraiser

Next Wednesday, you can head to Blaze Pizza in Stuyvesant Plaza between 4:00-9:00 p.m. and Blaze will donate 20% of your order to help send our eighth-graders to Boston! To support their field trip, just show this flyer at checkout or use the promo code with your online order.

School Counseling Week

It's National School Counseling Week, and this year's theme is "Helping Students Thrive."

No one does it better than Mrs. J-Z, who also doubles as our Dance Instructor. You can read more about her in the latest issue of EQV Magazine (digital edition available online at AHNS.org).

This Week in Athletics

Congratulations to our five varsity basketball seniors who were honored Tuesday on Senior Night.

JV got things started with a big win over Cohoes with nearly the entire team landing on the score sheet, and the seniors followed things up by leading their squad to victory as well.

Gianna Savoca led the way with 12 points. Emily Bellinger added 11, and Morgan Brewer chipped in 10. All five seniors got on the board as AHN improved to 14-3. The teams host Albany Academy on Friday, when Coach Gigliello will be honored pre-game for reaching 300 career wins in last week's victory at Voorheesville. Congratulations also go out to the indoor track team for placing second in the Colonial Council Championships!
