She received the award Monday from Rep. Marc Molinaro alongside her classmates, Dr. Kilbridge, former administrators Mrs. Musto, Ms. Morrison, and Ms. Vigliante, and Theology teacher Mrs. McSparron.

History has its Eyes on Franzini
A rare sighting: Mr. Franzini out of uniform and in “civilian” attire! This was part of “Twelfth Night” festivities at Schuyler Mansion State Historic Site over the weekend.

Spotted: AHN Volunteers at Concert
Profesora Gibbons and her Computers and Technology class had some fun on Friday as students tested out some of the interactive robots, which were purchased as part of the 2023 Gala Paddle Raise for the Holy Names Innovation Lab.
The STEM program teaches students basic coding. For example, Finley '28, seen here, programmed her robot to "run away" if it bumped into anything.

Spotted: AHN Volunteers at Concert
AHN student volunteers were on hand at Christian Brothers Academy on December 21, as CBA's Music Department hosted the 2024 Pops Concert in the Ned McGraw Gymnasium.
Students, parents and staff transformed the gym into a winter wonderland for guests to enjoy.
The bands and CBA music alumni performed Christmas classics, new holiday favorites and arrangements from movies including Harry Potter, The Greatest Showman, Guardians of the Galaxy, and How to Train Your Dragon.

Epiphany Celebration
The French Club hosted its Epiphany celebration on Friday, commemorating the visit of the three Wise Men to baby Jesus.
Traditionally, in France, special cakes called "La Galette des Rois" (King Cakes) are purchased from patisseries just for this occasion, and they are sold with a gold crown.
The cake is baked with a “Jesus,” a lima bean in our case, and it is served to family members. The goal is to find the “Jesus” to become the king of the day. French Club played it by having a student hiding under the table and calling out who gets the slice served.
This year's “Queen” of the day is Claire Kapczynski '27. All hail, Queen Claire!

Lapping the Competition
Gabriela McSwieney '21 is featured in the Times Union! McSwieney's mother tells AHN the decision to come to Holy Names was in large part due to presence of Coach Carlo Cherubino and the addition of the swim team.
"When it comes to freestyle races, Gabriela McSwieney does it all for the Clarkson women’s swim team. The senior from Stillwater and a graduate of Academy of Holy Names, is competing in both sprint and distance freestyle."

This Week in Athletics
Your varsity Panthers have bounced back after the team saw its undefeated streak snapped over the weekend.
Morgan Brewer led the way with 14 points in Tuesday night's 57-36 victory over Ichabod Crane. The success was short-lived, however, as the team came up just shy against the 25th ranked team in the state, AAA Albany on Thursday. The Panthers move to 9-2.
JV continued its winning ways, topping IC 47-27.
Congratulations to the indoor track team, which came in first in its meet Sunday at Union College!
There were several first place finishes, including senior Anna Wasula who set another personal best in the shot put.
| | | |
Futsal: a soccer-based sport played on a hardcourt like a basketball court, smaller than a pitch, and mainly indoors.
Sound like fun? Seniors Addison and Emma Fogarty are hosting a 3v3 Futsal tournament here on campus on Saturday, January 18 from 10:00 a.m. to noon.
It's part of their service project. Proceeds from event participation, and/or equipment donations will benefit The Beestera Foundation.

When the basketball team debuted it's "CC" heart patches (thanks Lori Metallo-Hotaling P '24) in honor of Coach Carlo Cherubino, we received requests to put it on other items so members of the greater AHN community would be able to pay tribute to his legacy.
Earlier this week, we shared with you the new winter hats and scarves made available by our friends at Wicked Smart Apparel. Just visit our online shop.
| | |
Now, as a special bonus, we have purchased a limited supply of custom "Bino-Ism" t-shirts based on a few of our favorite quotes you have sent us as memorial tributes. There were so many to choose from, so we narrowed down to three!
The shirts will be available at the concession stand during home games while supplies last.
