Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
|
Ahead of the holiday commemorating his birthday, AHN's Youth Ministry and Black Student Alliance led a prayer service to pay tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
In addition to reflecting on his lasting impact, students, courtesy of a presentation from Mrs. Ladouceur, learned about the life and legacy of Fannie Lou Hamer, a civil rights activist who represented the Freedom Democratic Party at the 1964 Democratic National Convention.

Appeal from Catholic Conference
|
Governor Kathy Hochul, who delivered her annual State of the State Address on Tuesday, is turning her focus now to delivering the State's budget for 2024-25.
The State's Catholic Conference wants to ensure included within the budget is the Nonpublic School Aid program, which obliges the state to to fully reimburse nonpublic schools for costs associated with mandated services like attendance, and administering and scoring state tests.
The Conference would also like to see an increase in funding for critically important programs for Catholic schools.
The 2023-24 budget provided $193
million in aid to reimburse nonpublic schools’ costs for State-mandated activities.
