Senior Wins Creative Writing Contest
Congratulations to Sofia Pantoja, winner of the University at Albany in the High School Program Creative Writing Essay Contest.
Sofia won for her entry, "Ecuador," and in addition to a monetary prize, her piece will be published in ARCH, an online e-journal featuring creative work from undergraduate students at UAlbany.
Ms. Leonard is thrilled and says she's proud of all her seniors who participated in the contest.
Choose kindness. That was the message from seniors in Ms. Leonard's Writing IV class as they conducted interviews inside and outside school about kindness for a special project. Each student presented video or written pieces based on what they learned.
Our middle schoolers are sharing the love as well, creating this kindness bulletin board filled with inspirational quotes, and kind things they’ve done for others or have been done for them.

Epihany Celebrations Continue
French Club kept the Epiphany celebrations going this week with Galette des Rois or Kings' Cake (named after the three kings). It is the traditional Twelfth Night cake.
Each galette is adorned with a golden paper crown and has a bean hidden within it to represent the infant Jesus.
Whomever is fortunate to find this in their slice is crowned queen for the day. This year, the honor went to Riley Schmitz.

Hats Off to our Ambassadors

Winter vibes from the Officers of the Ambassadors Club, who love showing off their school pride.
Each of our Ambassadors serve as hostesses for prospective students and as speakers at area grade schools to encourage students to choose Holy Names. The new AHN winter hats were a gift from their advisor, Mrs. Rento.
