AHN Faculty Launches Curriculum Review

By Margaret Taranto, Principal

This fall, our faculty launched a comprehensive two-year curriculum review designed to strengthen and refine our academic program. The goal of this work is to ensure that our course offerings are intentionally aligned with the outcomes outlined in our Profile of the Graduate, providing an even stronger curriculum that prepares students for success in college and beyond.

The first phase of the process centered on a deep examination of the Profile of the Graduate and the characteristics we expect every graduate to embody.

Christmas Song Contest

Better late than never!

Our (after) Christmas song contest filled the Riley Auditorium with the sounds of the season, and saw the sophomore class emerge victorious.

Congratulations to all classes, including the middle school which provided additional entertainment, and the faculty for singing their hearts out! Also a special thank you to our alumnae judges and guests!

Epiphany Celebrations

On Tuesday we celebrated the Epiphany, commemorating the visit of the Three Wise Men to baby Jesus.

A prayer service was held Tuesday morning in the Riley Auditorium, followed by a special guest presenter in Profesora Gibbons’ seventh-grade Spanish class: Mrs. Murillo, mother of Shelly ‘31. She discussed how the holiday is celebrated in her home country of Ecuador, which included the sharing of “Rosca de Reyes” (Three Kings Bread). Inside each loaf was hidden three baby Jesus figurines.

According to tradition, the students who found them are now considered lucky, AND are responsible for throwing a party — complete with tamales — on February 2 to officially mark the end of the Christmas season.

Panthers Win at Home

It was a two-for-Tuesday!

Led by the dynamic duo of Curtin and Crudo, the JV basketball squad cruised to victory at home Tuesday over Ichabod Crane.

The varsity squad made it a clean sweep with a win of its own, 56-40 the final.

Julia Viglucci and Jeniyah Wood each scored 17 while Maggie Volmer added 11 points and 18 rebounds. Abby Henzel and Ellla LaBoissiere grabbed 7 rebounds each to help secure the win.

Both teams are back at home Friday as they host Albany Academy starting at 5 p.m.
