Celebrating AHN's
8th Grade Class
|
|
|
A Prayer Service and Graduation Ceremony were held on Thursday for the eighth grade class as they prepare to transition from their roles as leaders of the middle school to high school students in the fall. Class President Claire Hannafin and Vice President Julia Viglucci provided opening and closing remarks, respectively. Students also presented special gifts including letters to their parents, thanking them for their support. Congratulations to all diploma recipients!

Wearing their Sunday finest on a Wednesday, the eighth grade class took in a movie (Sister Act 2) on the big screen in The Riley Auditorium, followed by a luncheon in their honor.

Breakfast was served for the Class of ‘24 in the Office of College Counseling, courtesy of Mrs. McGarry and Ms. Witherspoon.
The senior year kickoff gave students the opportunity to get used to their surroundings in a place where they will be spending a lot of time starting next fall!

Teammates Get Muddied for Good Cause

Congratulations to AHN Track and Field teammates Abby Edwards, Julia Lynch, Logan Schlegel, and Maggie Seymour participated in the TUFF eNUFF 5K where they ran through mud and maneuvered obstacles to benefit The Prevention Council of Saratoga County!
Additional congratulations go out to Maggie Seymour, who with her high jump results at State Qualifiers, has advanced to compete at the State Championship Saturday at Middletown High School.

Courier Staff Among Award Winners
|

Congratulations to Ms. Leonard and the staff of The Academy Courier for receiving recognition from the American Scholastic Press Association.
The Courier was among the First Place Scholastic Newspaper Award recipients in the annual competition open to student-run newspapers from across the country.
Entries are critiqued on journalistic content and decision-making, visual layout and design, photography, illustration, and overall editing.

Students Take Acting Talents on the Road

Where for art thou, Holy Names students? The answer over the weekend was Steamer No.10 Theatre in Albany! If you caught the production of Romeo and Juliet you may have seen some familiar faces, including: Louisa Pero, Maddie Reinoehl, Sophie Wilson, and Maggie McAllister. The performance was directed by none other than our own Ms. Donnaruma!
Don't worry if you missed out! You still have two more chances to catch a performance: Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m.

Therapy Dogs Bring Smiles to Students

Twice this week some very special guests brought smiles to the faces of students.
On Tuesday, Tanya, who is training to be a seeing eye dog paid AHN a visit. Thank you to former Communications and Marketing Specialist Ellen Gelting for bringing her in.

New Admissions Testing Opportunities Available
|
|
|
Due to increased demand, TWO new admissions testing opportunities have been made available for prospective students.
The exam serves as a scholarship qualifying exam as well as assists with student placement. High scoring students can earn between 1/4 and 1/2 tuition awards.
The upcoming exams are scheduled for Thursday, July 27, and Wednesday, August 16.
Arrival time is 9 a.m. For parents, there will also be coffee, conversation and tours available with school administrators.

Volleyball/Tennis Clinics Registration Available, Basketball Clinics Added
|
|
|
It's time! You can now register for our summer volleyball and tennis clinics.
In our week long tennis clinic, athletes will participate in instructional drills, fitness specific to tennis, developmentally appropriate match play and fun games taught by our nationally certified coach, Jackie Fiore.
We are also excited to bring back our volleyball clinic for two separate weeks this summer with coaches Meghan, Nancy, and Kristen Neff!
Week 1 will be for 7th-9th graders looking to improve their skills for the upcoming fall season. All aspects of the game will be covered from serving and hitting, to footwork and serve receiving.
Week 2 will be for 10th-12th graders looking to improve their skills in the above areas while incorporating more complex offensive and defensive strategies.

Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach Jaci Oskam has announced she'll be offering two camps here at Holy Names as well.
This is in addition to Varsity Basketball Coach Steve Gigliello's two basketball clinics he'll be hosting here on our campus.
