Get Over It: A Lent Reflection
By Dr. Martin Kilbridge
Yesterday was "National Get Over It Day." I don't know anything about that day, but I know a thing or two about Lent which in many ways serves as a 40-day reminder to “get over it.”

Lent is a time for self-reflection on our human fallibility. When we recognize and acknowledge our own failings and seek forgiveness we come to a greater understanding and sympathy for the failings of others. It opens us up to forgiveness. Recognizing our own failings can help us let go of grudges and resentments we have toward others and bring us closer to the forgiving spirit of our loving God.
Open House Welcomes Prospective Families
Thank you to all who came out to, or participated in making our March Open House a success.

Dozens of families were greeted by student ambassadors and given tours, which included: a club fair, an art walk-through display, and games with our athletes (and Penny the Panther) in the gym. A President's Panel was hosted in the auditorium by Dr. Kilbridge as well.

In addition, families heard first-hand accounts of the Holy Names experience from parent Kristen Lawler and senior Erin Mash.
You're Invited: Spring Gala
Academy of the Holy Names invites you to celebrate its Spring Gala on Friday, April 28 at 6 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Albany - Desmond Hotel in Albany

We will be honoring Michele Musto, who is retiring after 32 years, and her husband, Dr. Ron Musto, as well as Cindy Haselsteiner Pettit '78 for their unwavering support and dedicated service.

There will be live entertainment, silent and live auctions, and a super cash raffle.

RSVPs are due by March 24.

Word continues to spread of ProjectElla, which helps feed thousands in need throughout the Capital Region and beyond each week.

Founded by ninth-grader Ella Schoenborn, the organization has received much attention in recent weeks following Ella's receiving of the prestigious NCEA Youth Virtue, Valor, and Vision Award.

Ella tells Spectrum she wants these stories to help spread awareness and "show other people my age or younger that they can do something like this as well." Follow the link for more on her story.
Senior Leads Successful Blanket-Making Drive
Round two of blanket making for Maggie Tromp’s senior service project was a huge success.

40 volunteers from the combined events stepped up to make 20 blankets which will be donated to Project Linus and distributed to children in need.

National Foreign Language Week
It's National Foreign Language Week, and Señora Gibbons made sure it was a sweet celebration for students.

Marcesco Foods offered up different international selections for lunch throughout the week. And that's not all! Whoever guessed how many candies are in the jar would win the jar. Guesses had to be submitted in French or Spanish. Congrats to Elizabeth Blanch for taking home the prize!

Last but not least, each day, if a student correctly identified the flag on display in the lobby, they were given a chance to win a Dunkin' gift card. Winners included Emma Fogerty, Rosalie Patton, and, the student who's having a very good week: Elizabeth Blanch.
Embracing Equity for International Women's Day
At Holy Names, students, faculty, and staff fully embraced this year's International Women's Day theme of Embracing Equity!

The theme focuses on imagining a gender equal world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Follow the link for more information.
