Board of Trustees Names New Co-Chairs | |
|
The Board of Trustees has named new co-chairs of the Board – both Holy Names alumnae -- Lissa McNaughton ’77 P '22 and Maryann McCarthy ’88 P '19. Both trustees have been life-long residents of the Capital Region and board members since 2017. The co-chairs will begin their service in July. They will succeed Chris Edwards P ’14 who has served as chair since 2019.
Three new board members have also been announced: Ann Marie Lizzi ’87, Judith Smith ’70, and Dr. Edwin Williams, III, P ’16.

AHN hosted its annual Art Show on Friday. Portfolio exhibits, including pieces from AP Art and Design students were put on display throughout the campus as family and community members were welcomed to stop in and view. | |
Junior Receives National Writing Honor | |
|
Congratulations to junior Ashley Lee for being recognized in the 2024 National Council of Teachers of English Achievement Awards in Writing Contest. Her Themed Writing piece "Dots and Splots" was honored as Excellent by the awards Advisory Committee.
National judges evaluate each piece of writing for expression of ideas, language use, and unique perspective and voice. This year, schools nominated 633 students to participate in the Achievement Awards in Writing Program.

Lacrosse Team Celebrates Senior Day, Track Team Wins | |
|
Congratulations to JV lacrosse (17-8 over La Salle) and outdoor track for their wins this week.
At Monday's meet at Voorheesville, AHN had several first-place finishers, including Maggie McKenna in the 100m, Morgan Brewer in the 400m, Patsy Whelan in the 300m, Riley Sanford in the long jump, Anna Wasula in the shot put, plus the 4x400 relay and 4x100 relay teams.
Varsity lacrosse celebrated senior night ahead of its matchup versus Cohoes, honoring Anna Nichols, Ryan Carroll, Bridget Burke, Lexie Cristalli, and Sophia Kaiser.

Over in the Campus Arts Center, a reception was held for recipients of President's Leadership and Academic Scholarship Award recipients. All attendees were invited following their respective events to attend AHN's annual Art Show.

We want to give a shoutout to our Journalism/Courier students who raised $300 for the South End Children’s Cafe in Albany through a bagel breakfast and various donations.
The cafe offers free healthy meals along with homework help, academic enrichment, mentoring, exercise, and the arts.

Academy of the Holy Names will be participating in this year's 518 Day of Giving on -- you guessed it -- Saturday, March 18.
The annual fundraiser helps support regional not-for-profit organizations.
Funds raised that day will help support AHN's Partners in Education Program, which assists qualified students who without financial assistance would not be able to attend Holy Names.

Another admissions testing opportunity has been made available for prospective students.
The exam serves as a scholarship qualifying exam and assists with student placement. High scoring students can earn between 1/4 and 1/2 tuition awards.
The upcoming exam is scheduled for Sunday, May 19. Arrival time is 12:15 p.m.

The June SAT will be here before you know it, and AHN's College Counseling Office will be offering several opportunities for SAT preparation. Classes with state-certified teachers will be held on the following dates from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.:
