Summer Projects Update

The third of our "big three" summer projects is getting ever closer to completion.

We are grateful for all the gifts from ALLINFORAHN which are helping expand our strength training capacity and expand fitness opportunities for all students. This rarely-used storage space is being converted into a multi-level strength training room. The walls have been painted and new flooring installed. Now that those elements have been completed, workout equipment delivery is expected in the coming weeks.

Halloween Parade

AHN's annual parade was held Thursday morning in the gym as students competed for best individual and/or team costumes at each grade level. They're all winners in our book, though! More photos are available in our online gallery.

All Saints Day Liturgy

A special liturgy was held Friday afternoon to commemorate All Saints Day in the Catholic Church. Celebrated on November 1 every year, it is a holy day of obligation, and honors these individuals, canonized or not, who have lived lives of extraordinary faith and dedication to God, serving as role models for Christians.

Walk to End Alzheimer's

Thank you to all who showed up to support and/or made a contribution to this year's Walk to End Alzheimer's at Siena College. More than 1,000 attendees in all displayed their purple with pride. Organizers say to date they have raised more than $300,000 for research.

Masterminds Showcase Brain Power

Congratulations to our Masterminds team, which took three of four matches on Monday at Emma Willard.

Mrs. Baxter's AP Biology students spent their lab period Monday measuring rates of photosynthesis in chloroplasts under various conditions using a dye reduction technique.

Through quantitative analysis using a spectrophotometer, the students measured light transmittance/time to get the rates of photosynthesis. This sophisticated lab involved understanding that the light reactions of photosynthesis involve excitement of electrons that will be accepted by a dye that will change color when reduced by these electrons allowing for rates to be determined.

Seniors in Mrs. McSparron's Theology - Social Justice class searched newspapers and magazines for justice stories to analyze and write about.
