AHN Athletes Winners On and Off the Field
|
It has been discouraging, but not surprising to read stories in the local and national press about cheating, abuse, and financial shenanigans in college and high school athletic programs. The sad reality is that a win-at-all-costs mentality is nothing new in sports. The good news is this is not the case at Academy of the Holy Names where former Athletic Director Carlo Cherubino and his successor, Teagan Waddingham, have established an exceptional program in which athletic accomplishment is measured as much by the development of character as it is by wins and losses.
Dr. Kilbridge Presents at Statewide Conference
|
President Kilbridge presented at the New York State Coalition for Religious and Independent School Educators (RISE) conference Wednesday. His topic was "Decision Making for Administrators."
The annual conference draws administrators in independent schools from Long Island to Buffalo.
| |
|
A special prayer service was held to honor veterans throughout our AHN community.
Follow the link to view the complete presentation, which includes dozens of loved ones -- from students, faculty, and staff -- all of whom are veterans. We thank them for their service.

Month of Simple Giving
Thank you to everyone who contributed to SADD's (Students Against Destructive Decisions) collection of personal items for Grassroot Givers' Month of Simple Giving.
Thanks to your efforts, nearly 700 items will be donated to people in homeless shelters or living on a limited budget. A special congratulations to the winners of the dress down day: grades 11 and 12 with 300 items contributed! Way to go!

|
Baking for a Cause
A sweet way to end the week: members of AHN's Black Student Alliance held a bake sale to benefit Capital City Rescue Mission!
| |
|
Toy Drive Competition
For their senior service project, Julia Panza and Lexie Cristalli are collecting toys for kids of all ages! In conjunction with Logan Strong Foundation, which helps provide comfort and entertainment to childhood cancer patients and their families, the presents will be delivered this Christmas to patients at Albany Med.
Items can be placed in boxes in the lobby or in Ms. Moran's classroom throughout November. The grade which donates the most toys wins a pizza party!

Fall Open House Draws Big Crowd
|
Thank you to everyone who made our Fall Open House such a smashing success!
Attendance this year was up 37 percent compared to last fall, making it the largest gathering for an open house AHN has hosted since 2018.
We couldn't have done it without the efforts of our student ambassadors, faculty, staff, coaches, parents, and alumnae volunteers who were on hand to showcase the best of AHN.
Guests were treated to campus tours, as well as presentations from senior Nicole Decker, parent Tara Cristalli, and alumna Laura Uhlig Hans '10.

In the Community
What would we do without our stellar ambassadors? Mary Keegan and Gianna Giambona represented AHN at the St. Gregory’s School Fair in Loudonville. Thanks for your help!
