Thank You!

From Academy of the Holy Names Office of Institutional Advancement

Thank you to our entire community for your ongoing support! The mission of Holy Names and the educational impact on each student could not be sustained without your generosity. We are grateful for every gift of time, talent and treasure.

With thanks and appreciation,

Kristin, Liz, Katie Ann, and Diane

This Week at AHN

Students in Indiana for Youth Conference

Thank you to Fr. Bob for making a pit stop at the airport to wish our travelers well and deliver a blessing as they headed to Indianapolis for this year’s National Catholic Youth Conference!

The premier Catholic youth event gathers high schoolers from across the country for three days of prayer, community, evangelization, catechesis, service, and empowerment.

This year's theme is "I Am" and reflects on the time God appeared to Moses through the burning bush, and explores how the Sacraments are the living story of God’s love.

Book Donation

We have a pair of thank yous to give out:

Thank you to Susan Loftus Jacobson '63, who donated a copy of Debra Bruno's "A Hudson Valley Reckoning: Discovering the Forgotten History of Slavery in My Dutch American Family" to our library.

We'd also like to thank the author, herself, who stopped by to sign the donated copy.

Mrs. Rauch appreciates any and all contributions to the Library Learning Commons, especially from local authors!

Trivia Masters

Congratulations to our Masterminds teams for their recent performances: JV (1st Place), Varsity (2nd Place). Keep up the good work!

Girls' Best Friend

Who needs Superman when you have Lois?

Thanks to our friend Ellen for bringing in Lois, who is a guide dog in training to visit our students and provide some much-needed smiles!

Future Saints?

Thanks to Siena University for visiting with our senior applicants and for providing them with a little swag!

Acting Out

Earlier this week the Religions of the World class showed off its knowledge of the Islamic faith through short performances. Students wrote and acted out original scripts.

Father-Daughter Dinner Dance

Photos are in from the Father-Daughter Dinner Dance! Fun times were had by all, and thank you to AHN's Parents Association for putting together such a memorable evening!

Panthers Updates

Joyce Finishes 2nd in Class C

Congratulations to Times Union Athlete of the Week Maeve Joyce for earning league and Section II first place honors.

She also placed 2nd in Class C at States.

481 of the top female runners in New York State converged on Queensbury High School to compete for the state title. Out of 132 runners in Class C, Maeve Joyce gave a spectacular effort to earn that 2nd place finish. Overall within the total pool of 481 runners, Maeve finished 14th!

Congratulations are also in order for Lily Belles on a fantastic diving season where she finished as Colonial Council and Section II Champion.

Lastly, a shoutout to AHN’s sixth-grade CYO basketball team, which made its debut in scrimmage play this week versus Niskayuna. If the 29-10 victory is any indication of things to come, this new squad has a lot of promise!

Lighting the Bell Tower

We are looking for some of the following types of pictures to include in an upcoming Giving Tuesday campaign: pictures with Mr. Anastasio (Mr. A) pictures with Julie "Coachie" Foley, and pictures from Pep Rallies.

If you have any you'd be willing to share, please email them to ahnadvancement@ahns.org no later than Friday, November 28.

Please include names and class years of others in the pictures if possible.

Celebrate the Season. Honor a Loved One. Share the Light.

Each year, the lighting of the Holy Names’ Bell Tower marks the beginning of the Christmas season on campus — a cherished tradition that fills our community with warmth, reflection, and hope.

The Bell Tower, shining brightly through the winter nights, is more than a beautiful symbol. It represents all the goodness, faith, and light our community brings into the world — and each light tells a story.

Be Part of the Tradition

This season, you are invited to sponsor a light on the bell tower in honor or in memory of someone special — a loved one, classmate, teacher, or friend whose light continues to shine.

Your tribute helps illuminate our campus and supports Holy Names’ mission to nurture faith, community, and compassion in every student.

Each dedication will be recognized in our Bell Tower Tribute Listing and during our annual Lighting Ceremony, as we come together to celebrate the true spirit of the season.

Lighting of the Bell Tower

On Thursday, December 11, we will hold the Lighting of the Bell Tower.

There will be a brief opening prayer, followed by reading aloud the list of dedications, and concluding with a Christmas song performed by our AHN Choral Ensemble.

Seniors Collecting Stuffed Animals, Dolls

As part of their senior service project, Sophia and Kate are looking to improve the quality of life of senior residents at Glendale Nursing Home!

Studies show stuffed animals and dolls provide a comforting object to hold, which can have a calming effect, particularly on dementia patients. They can also help foster connections with caregivers.

A donation box is available in the lobby.

Small Business Saturday

AHN Families,

With the holidays — and Small Business Saturday — right around the corner, we’re expanding our list of AHN community-owned businesses!

If your family owns a business, we’d love to include you. Our goal is to promote and celebrate AHN family businesses while encouraging our community to shop locally and support one another this season.

Let’s shine a spotlight on the creativity, talent, and entrepreneurship within our AHN family!
